Time for another Q&A to get to know our chefs! 🍋 🍲
Meet Chef Nathaniel!
Name a place you like to visit or hang out in Toronto, and why.
I’m a homebody but if I were to pick a specific area it would be Yonge and Sheppard/Finch. I’m a big time foodie and it’s close to home. They have one of the best Korean and Japanese restaurants in the city.
What is your fondest memory involving food?
When I was a kid, I made it my goal to perfect French toast. I enjoyed the process so much at the time it turned into a love for cooking just three ingredients. I tried to master the technique at a young age, and it opened up the door to where I am now.
What are your favourite Toronto restaurants?
Wow that’s a tough question. From the top of my head it’ll have to be Tuscan Wolf Pizzeria (best pizza I’ve ever had if you’re willing to drive outside of Toronto haha), Pho Tien Thanh on Ossington (it’s been there for a longtime for a reason. Best broths in the city), and Hanmoto (a cute cozy Japanese style restaurant great for a date. Food is unique and full of flavour)
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ouch why are you doing this to me. I love all kinds of food. But if I have to pick one it would have to be a kind of Vietnamese food - like a Bun Rieu. It’s a crab seafood pho. I’m Vietnamese/Chinese and I think this dish will forever make me happy.
What do you love most about being a personal chef?
What I love about being a personal chef is seeing a family or individual who has no time to eat a good cooked meal finally sit down, take a breath, and enjoy the food I made specifically for them. To see the eyes pop and questions being asked about the food reminds me why I love doing what I do.
Providing people with great food just simply makes people happy, and that makes me happy.
