💡 Dear child of immigrants … Here are some gentle reminders you may need right now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take what resonates, and leave what does not! 🌅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a child of immigrants, it is important to remember that:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨We can’t change the past, BUT, we can change our relationship to ourselves!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨Old attachment patterns may be hindering you and your healing journey, BUT, you can develop new and better patterns!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨As an adult, you are responsible for yourself, AND, you can ask and receive support from others at the same time!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨Change requires a new relationship with yourself, AND, change requires action and practice!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope some of these reminders can encourage you to reflect on your experience as a child of immigrants and validate your emotions💭 Although the healing journey takes time and work, being reminded that the past does not have to solidify your future can be encouraging!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 Which reminder resonates with you the most?

🌟 I’ve been talking about setting New Years goals or resolutions that are build to LAST, and not fade away after a couple weeks into January! If you’re ready to set 2022 goals through AFFIRMATIONS and SELF COMPASSION, join me 🙌
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Self compassionate goal setting is a crucial way to persevere through hard times, AND know that it will be okay if you fail🕊 Maybe in past years you’ve become discouraged when you can’t commit to goals you set in the beginning of the year- but you’re not alone in this!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of putting high pressure on yourself to achieve different resolutions, I invite you to set your 2022 goals through self compassionate prompts and affirmations. Read my post above for different New Years “I will” prompts as a way to UPLIFT and SUPPORT your mental and physical wellbeing throughout the year ⬆️✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Intentionally setting self compassionate goals is a great way to begin your new year with healthy expectations, knowledge that you are enough as you are, and can remind you to set boundaries with yourself to keep the promises you make to yourself 🙏🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember to be gentle to yourself during this transition to the New Year- as we show up for others in this season of giving, it’s crucial to remember to show up for ourselves too! 🎉

If your inner dialogue is self-blaming, this is for YOU👇💭
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many of us find it natural to place the blame on ourselves in different aspects in life - relationships, inner healing work, social situations and more😭 The problem is, when we continue to constantly blame ourselves, that inner voice can become very mentally draining, very fast.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everyone has an inner dialogue - that voice in your head that comments on things happening around you, life, and thoughts you have🧠 This dialogue runs all the time - we’re always talking to ourselves! This shows how crucial it is to have a healthy relationship with your internal dialogue - if you are constantly self-blaming, you may find yourself becoming both burdened and trapped by your thoughts and mental dialogue🔒
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Luckily, there are corresponding self compassion phrases that can replace those negative thoughts. Read through my post above to learn how to put your thoughts into a different perspective - one of inner compassion and peace! ⬆️

😰 Are you feeling out of control lately?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you answered yes, know you’re not alone! 💕 With the transitioning seasons, and mental and physical fatigue from the ongoing pandemic, it makes sense that many people may be feeling different lately😴
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This feeling can have a lot to do with our nervous systems👥 There are different indicators that our nervous systems are heading towards out of control reactions and survival responses. Identifying them and understanding their link to the nervous system is important in order to understand how to help! 💡
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are some markers to consider:
☁️ Becoming agitated, more easily than usual
☁️ Feeling anxious, revved up, or angry for no apparent reason
☁️ Still feeling in control, yet uncomfortable or uneasy at the same time
☁️ Feeling spacy and often losing track of time
☁️ Feeling yourself shut down both physically and mentally
☁️ Often feeling sluggish or in a daze
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you identify with these indicators, it can be helpful to look into managing your nervous system in order to rely on better reactions and natural responses 🌄
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Paying attention to signs of nervous system dysregulation is vital, especially when you’re on the road to healing or caring for our mental health🛣 You can explore my previous posts for tips on the nervous system, and in the meantime, remember that this sense of feeling out of control can be managed, and eased 😊
