We’re proud to highlight the outreach efforts of Hypertension Canada member Raveenie Rajasingham, who recently supported two important community initiatives:
- Free Health & Fasting Community Clinic at the Pickering Islamic Center
- Diverse Minds Collective Seniors Group

Through blood pressure screening and cardiovascular health education, initiatives like these reinforce the importance of knowing your numbers and understanding hypertension risk.

Hypertension affects 1 in 4 Canadian adults. Community outreach plays a critical role in early detection, prevention, and empowering individuals to understand and manage their cardiovascular risk.

Thank you, Raveenie, for your continued leadership and commitment to heart health.

Not all blood pressure monitors are created equal.

Accurate blood pressure measurement is essential for diagnosing and managing hypertension. Yet globally, only a small proportion of devices on the market have been properly validated for accuracy.

Hypertension Canada’s Device Recommendation Program reviews and recommends blood pressure devices that meet rigorous validation standards. Our list includes home, clinical, and ambulatory monitors that Canadians can trust.

If you monitor your blood pressure at home, make sure your device is validated.

Explore the recommended devices here:

If you have hypertension, managing your condition is crucial to preventing serious health complications. Home blood pressure monitoring is a powerful tool in maintaining your health, and Hypertension Canada recommends it as an essential part of hypertension management.

This Valentine’s Day, show your heart some love.

Heart disease and stroke remain leading causes of death in Canada — and high blood pressure as the number one risk factor for stroke and a major risk factor for heart disease.

The most meaningful gift we can give ourselves and the people we care about is prevention.

At Hypertension Canada, we advance research, education, and evidence-based guidelines to improve blood pressure detection and control across the country.

If heart health matters to you, consider supporting our work today.

We’re honoured that our 2025 Primary Care Guideline was the most-read article published in CMAJ last year.

This recognition underscores the importance of practical, evidence-based tools for primary care providers managing hypertension - one of the most significant modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Thank you to the clinicians, researchers, patient partners, and volunteers who contributed to this work, and to our community who continue to engage with and implement the guideline.
