Sharing my gratitude for all the love & light I have received today for successfully completing my 35th cycle on mother Earth around the Sun with this poem from my brother Russell Taplin
Weapon Of Choice
Alone he sat atop the hill and stared across the land,
He felt the stars above his head and the Earth beneath his hand.
He gazed out long and far and saw, all that they had done
The waste, the hypocrisy,
Every cruelty under the Sun.
The fault was his, yours and mine.
We chased trinkets and lies and got lost in time.
And as he sat and pondered, upon the human race
The tears came and streamed down his weathered face.
How had they moved so far from grace, come so low
Surely it could only be to rise and grow.
We had to pass so far, so deep into the night
Just so we could remember, how to shine with light.
And thus he realised he still had breath,
And with that thought all fear left.
For breath is life and life is love,
Our holy gift from up above.
Quiet and still he went within,
Seeing truly there was no sin.
All the hate, the anger, fear and woe.
Saying thank you he let it go.
And his spark of light eternal grew,
He unfurled his heart and found strength anew.
A strength to rise and love and fight,
To bring the dawn unto the night.
But even as his heart did swell,
The darkness came and it whispered hell.
All around it flowed and crept,
Seeking places where dark things slept.
Deep and creeping it swallowed the light,
A darkness darker than the night.
And so it murmured in his ear,
The death of all that he held dear.
War, famine, hate and pain,
A billion souls sacrificed by atomic rain.
But his heart was strong and his flame sprang anew,
Even as the dark fed him lies untrue.
So little man you want to fight, you have no hope,
You can't defeat the night.
Choose your weapon and choose it well,
For then we go and dance in hell.
Bomb or sword, axe or gun,
We'll have a war to end the Sun.
But tall he stood now, strong and free,
And facing the darkness, spoke to thee.
I choose I as I am meant to be,
A fragment of our unity.
I choose choice, the weapon of the free.
