The lead-up to this marathon was my toughest yet. Weeks of hip flexor pain forced me to cut back on training, and just 7 days before I could barely run a mile without pain. I doubted I’d even make the start line, let alone the finish.

But stubbornness carried me through, and on Sept 21 I finished the 2025 . Starting at the back of group A, I went out a bit too fast, the heat and lack of training caught up, and cramps hit hard after 25k. My goal shifted from “sub 3” to “just finish smiling.”

At 40k I grabbed some sweet tea, got a small boost, and pushed through the Brandenburg Gate with a fist pump and a grin. It was my slowest marathon ever, but I’m proud: the miracle isn’t that I finished—it’s that I had the courage to start.

Huge thanks to for the Metaspeed Sky Tokyo—game changer. And for putting up with me the past 2 weeks—what a trip!🙌🏻

Here we are - the day before the 2025 . 🇩🇪

I’ve come into this race with a different mindset compared to past marathons I’ve done. Tomorrow is about having fun and taking in the crowd, and doing my best on the day (whatever that will be), and finishing with a smile on my face. I’ve had some struggles over the last month and unfortunately, this means I’m not in peak fitness or in a position to run a best time — and that really freaking sucks, because well, Berlin.

Anyway, thanks to a lot of you for sending me nice messages of encouragement. I don’t know if I would be in Berlin right now if it wasn’t for it.

Good luck to everyone also running tomorrow! It’s going to be a party.😄👋🏻🎉

Summer training in full swing…! 😎👋🏻📈

It’s been a very HOT one so far - hotter than any summer I can remember - but I’m hoping temps are gunna drop soon so we all get to race our best come race day.😊

I really couldn’t do all of this training without my midtown friends/ teammates who push me in workouts and inspire me everyday. Huge shoutout to all of you guys!

5 weeks to go!

The only 5k race I ever run. never disappoints! And I never seem to run any faster year after year 😂 — I’m getting old and my marathon legs aren’t helping. I move up an age category this fall, yay??

2 weeks post marathon and to be completely honest, I felt horrible the entire week leading into this race. Hip and quad soreness has been the worst it’s been in a long time, so I changed my perspective and goals for this race, and told myself I’d race for fun and to enjoy the day. And that I did. 👍🏻

Congrats to everyone who participated and big thanks to those who made this event possible!

And now… a much deserved break from structured running/ training. Time to do other activities I enjoy too like volleyball, cycling, elliptical, swimming, yoga and pilates.🙋🏻‍♂️

See you in late June for the next race! 🌈👋🏻

Happy to lay down a big workout (in much less than ideal conditions) at 30k this past weekend with the help of some teammates, especially my training buddy .mastromarini who I plan on racing with in a few weeks!😀

Thanks for some of these awesome shots. I don’t usually look this happy crossing a finish line 😂 — but I definitely had a ton left in the tank crossing this line, which is a great feeling to have at the end of a race.

Congrats to all who toughed it out on a rough day, on a rough course. Hopefully next year we get sunshine and no wind, lol. 🤔

The Chilly Half Marathon really lived up to its name this year! 🥶
The coldest race I’ve ever done (I’m pretty sure) with allll the layers, but also allll the vibes!😄🎉🙌🏻

A very solid race effort for me and good fitness test heading into the spring marathon season. 2nd best time ever over the distance — in those conditions? I’ll take it for sure.

Thanks to for organizing a fantastic race every year. You can count on me and all my blacktoe teammates to come back again and again! Big shout out to all the volunteers and supporters out along the course keeping us motivated out there - can’t thank you enough. You all must have been freezing…!!🧊

I’ve had the pleasure of working with these 2 incredible athletes over the last year and a half.😄 They are both phenomenal marathon runners and role models in our running community who inspire me and others everyday. That’s why they’re recognized on my clinic’s Wall of Fame.🏆

is gearing up for his 1st Boston Marathon in April 2025 after crushing the 3-hour barrier this past Spring. He is an all-star volleyball player too!👀

ran a very patient and smart race at Berlin Marathon this past September 2024 and was awarded with a massive personal best. He always sets a good example for us all to keep our recovery runs truly easy! He also is a coach KW and MT.🫡

I’m so lucky to get to run with you both — can’t wait to share many more miles with you two.🙌🏻

Hey everyone!👋🏻

Just popping on here to remind you to book your pre-race (or routine) December physiotherapy appointments before the year comes to an end (already?!🤯 I know you’re thinking the same).

Or, you can be really prepared and plan those running assessments for the new year — which would set you up well for next spring’s race season.🏃🏻‍♂️

Victory lap done.

Make sure you remember this:
This part here - finishing a marathon - this is what the world sees. The last 1% of your journey.
The 99% that most of us do behind the scenes, that’s for us.
It’s what makes us marathon runners, not the marathon itself.
The commitment to our craft, of building a better version of ourselves, block by block, session by session.
It takes dedication and discipline, that sometimes we don’t even realize we have.
And we do it for ourselves, because that’s the best person to do any of this for.

And then we cross that finish line and get the medal - a lovely cherry on top.

But for now, we rest. We recover. And then we go again.

I had an absolute blast out on the course, and I’m so thankful that I get to do this whole running thing for fun, while chasing my goals.😄 Special thanks to all of my friends from the Toronto run community who came out to support us - it sure put a smile on my face seeing you guys out there!!🙂
