Learn to be okay with other people not knowing your side of the story.

This quote lives front row in my head. And holy buckets it’s hard to apply. Like real hard.

Personally, I suck at it because it teases a loss of control. What if someone thinks/says something incorrect about me to someone else? What if that gets tugged another way and someone else shares that? It’s a sticky carousel.

The thing about control is that we think we have it. In this sense it’s an illusion. It doesn’t exist. We can only control our own thoughts, and thoughts have energy. That is always more powerful than words. That is the only truth we need to know.

Humans are complex with irony. It takes more effort to clutch and hold on tightly then it does to just let go.

I’m writing this now with white knuckles, but working on it.

Human life started to change with the recognition of patterns in seasons. Like perennial and annual flowers, people play seasonal roles in the lives of others. It’s a natural thing.

Some come into your life for a season, others forever - for ever ever? For ever ever.

Self awareness reveals the recognition of patterns in others. Whether it’s work, romance, or friendships, patterns are cheat maps to what seem like puzzles. Pay attention. You can spot a w**d before blaming or rotting your own soil. 🪴

Everyone is unique, but patterns are consistent. Sit back and watch more than you react. Connect the dots, connect the do******gs. ♟

This staircase means a lot to me. It was where I went when the world shut down. I’ve always loved the outdoors, but the pandemic pulled me closer to nature. Walking the stairs (happier knees) gave me a sweaty release to feel alive. I felt cradled by the trees, connected to the sky. The birds and squirrels were familiar. The breeze at the top was a rinsing exhale.

No matter how chaotic the news, the trees stood tall. Nature flowed through Her seasons with consistency and calm.

I’m grateful for every stair that was placed. Every person who built it, whenever that was. The way the forest continues to grow around it. The way ants fall into my bra (do they come from the branches?), and how every time I visit this spot I feel safe. Every step closer to home.
