We went out of town for a family celebration, and we stayed with a cousin who is a complete minimalist- she has nothing, I mean NOTHING on her counters, coffee tables, etc.

The bedrooms have no clutter- every room looks like a hotel room.

While that’s WAY too stark for me, it got me thinking…what do I have at home that I’m holding onto, just because I might need it someday?

So let’s start- there’s a large bin of 36 ramekins that I’ve kept in my cupboard. I used them for my son’s bar mitzvah…he’s now 30 years old.

Which while very cute for food presentation, they are a pain to wash, because they always have residue left on them after the dishwasher. And they take up SO MUCH SPACE.

So why was I keeping them?

“I might use them again”(Really? I haven’t used them in 15 years)

“They cost money “ (Like maybe $30 from the dollar store)

“Maybe my kids will want them when they’re married” (Trust me, they don’t)

“They make me feel like I’m Martha Stewart”(Okay, maybe I need therapy😉)

So while I’m feeling a bit unsettled about giving them away, I’m also feeling proud of myself that I’m letting go of something that takes up a LOT of shelf space and doesn’t serve me.

So while I’ll never get to the uber- minimalist level of my cousin (and to be honest, I really don’t want to live that way), it feels good to give these away to someone who will actually use and enjoy them.

We don’t mean to brag ( but I guess that’s what we’re doing!😉). Just wanted to share our 63rd Five Star Google Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm beyond impressed with the service I received from Erika and her workers from In the Clear. I needed to declutter and pack up 90% of my belongings to be put into storage, so that my house can be staged and put on the market to be sold. This task was an incredibly overwhelming thought (sky-rocketing blood pressure, anyone?) especially with somewhat limited mobility due to wearing an air cast boot on one foot, but Erika was just lovely and promised me that they would help me through it and make it manageable. The amount that these ladies were able to accomplish in the two days they were here is absolutely staggering! They were all lovely, extremely hard-working, and very respectful with both my belongings and my sanity. They were organised, got straight to the point, but didn't bulldoze me into doing anything I wasn't comfortable doing - and I now only have Tupperware containers that have lids to match, wow!! 😉 I would never have been able to do all this on my own, and highly recommend Erika and In the Clear's services to anyone who needs help decluttering and/or packing up their place. I may even be calling on them again to help me unpack and re-organise when I get to the other end of my journey and I'm in my new place!! Thank you so much- you ladies were rock stars, and I am so grateful!!
