Julian's Walk is still sharing with people we pass on the street who are asking for help. At times I will approach a person who looks as if they could use some help. I will approach them with a gentle "hello", then I will ask if they would like a bottle of water and try to engage a little conversation at which time I let them know what I have with me to share and if they would care to have anything. It can be perilous from the stand point of insulting someone. That actually happened during our hot summer last year. I saw a man near the grocery store who looked dirty and disheveled. I had a conversation with my self, should I approach him? Should I ignore him, the approach part of myself won out and I asked if he was okay and would he like some water. He looked at me and very indignantly said, "why would you ask that??" I told him I thought he looked as if he could use a drink of water. Then I told me he was waiting for his wife to finish shopping. He worked construction, hence why he was dirty and disheveled. A big oops😊. Of course I explained the purpose of having water ready to share. He totally understood and we had a giggle over my assessment. I know if I step up to a person who I "think" is someone could use a little gift I could be reading the situation wrong but I would rather have a miss than miss an opportunity to share with a person who could use some respect and recognition.
We are still accepting donations of socks, winter clothing, water, snacks, feminine hygiene products. If it is on you heart to share DM or leave a message on the wall and I will arrange to do a pick up.
I thank my Heavenly Father for all He gives to me, I shall always share as the Lord gifts me😇

It has been a busy summer. God has lead us to many people who we could share with. My daughter, Jenni, and I carry bags pre made with munchies, 2 bottles of water, socks, a towel and a copy of Our Daily Bread. Along with the bag we give a $10.00 Tim Horton's card. If they can manage it we also have a large bottle of water. So far those we have asked have accepted. One young man we met was sitting outside a store with his "perfect" dog. He accepted a bag. As soon as he went through the bag he pulled out a pair of socks and put them on. Socks are so important. At the same spot I met Harry, he told came to Canada in 1970 and drove cab for 30yrs. Personal life situations had lead him to currently living in a shelter. We chatted for quite awhile. When I turned to leave him he was weeping. He told me he had been saved from smoking by a laying on of hands many yesrs ago. My heart swells when these people with the least love God so much and give credit to God for all they have.

Good Friday was a good Friday for me. At Shopper's World I met a man by the name of Joseph. He was asking for change. Of course, me being me, I chatted his ear off and he reciprocated by sharing some of his stories!! Joseph had both his legs burned in a fire. For me that is one of my most dreaded fears, I mean my fear is so great that I cannot light matches!! Joseph is a travelling man and hitchhikes around. His legs were burned in a fire in Las Vegas. He told me he was raised in the Beaches.
We managed to give him 3 coats, one had a nylon outer shell so it should help him through the rainy season. We also shared with him socks, scarves, hats, snacks to nibble on, a Tim Horton's card and a 4 month read of a booklet of faith called Our Daily Bread. Joseph does believe in God and often attended services at Sanctuary. He also was cared for by street nurses and fed at Sanctuary.
His worker has found housing in the new modular housing for him.
I look forward to bumping into Joseph in the neighbourhood in the near

Wesley is a man I often see at the lights at Vic Pk/ St. Clair. He is an older man. I was shared some scarves, hats, socks and snacks with him today, I also gave him $5.00. He told me he had not recieved any money up to this point while trying to get motorists to give him some money. His words were " thank you so much, now I can have some protein." I usually have Tim Horton cards to give out but I need to get some. Wesley told me his pension is just enough to cover his rent, leaves him no extra for food. He is 65yrs old. What a hard job he has pan handling. I know I would find it difficult to go out for hours on end in all kinds of weather, hot, swealtering, cold, snow, ice storms, etc. Although Wesley is out there hoping people see and acknowledge him but most often ignore or have unkind words he always tells me how much Jesus loves me for helping him. Yes, even though things are quite unbearable in his world he still loves God.

Yesterday I popped by the local grocery store. There was a young man there pan handling and asking if he could return carts so he could have the quarter. That is a long, hard way to make money. His name is Joey and as I walked up to him he was in tears. Someone had destroyed his "homestead". They stole his possessions, few as they may to be to you and me. They destroyed his tent. Joey was so upset because he had no idea where he would sleep last night. He told me he has been on the streets for 2yrs, he seems very young although I would say he is in his early 20's. I picked some food up for him while shopping and then brought him to my car. I was able to share a few items with him: socks, hats, scarves. Joey could not take any more as he had know place to put them and they were cumbersome to carry. Someone is supposed to give him a tent today. I am praying to see him today or tomorrow again. I have blankets, jackets, shirts etc. to give to him.
Thank you to all who have donated items so people who are living in hard times can be a cared for.

It is Friday we have had a fruitful week. Our intent was to visit tent communities but until we are opened up by the provincial government and out of the lockdown in Toronto we are not able to do this.
We have met many people by stores and on corners as we shop and go to the dog park.
I see Jim regularly and he always has a joke, " how do you have a party in outer space.....planet" 😂. Jim also stays 3mtrs away, he has something to accept money given to him on the end of a long pole.
I also met Tammy this week, she is from Vancouver. She is just waiting to get a wheelchair. Living on the street and sleeping on damp cold ground has left bone and joint damaged. Creighton I met in front of a grocery store, he wears a mask. I offered him some snacks but he didn't really want them, he was smart though and did accept one of the Tim Horton cards I carry to share......mmmm hot coffee. Daniel I also met outside a grocery store. He is very accepting and thankful of whatever he is given. He has just secured a warm place to sleep on the Danforth.
Know when you donate to those who walk with the street communiry your gift is appreciated. No matter what town/city you live in help those who are less fortunate. Don't judge, we never know what path may lead us to the same path these "others" have found themselves on
