It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of one of our founding members, Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rab, who passed away in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, after bravely fighting against cancer for over 26 months. Dr M. Abdur Rab was a man of honor and love, indeed his dedication contributions to the reduction of human suffering during his long career have made an impact on many lives. With his leadership and hard work Guinea Worm was eradicated in Pakistan and Pakistan’s premier Public Health Institute was established. While in service for World Health Organization he led a major humanitarian effort in Darfur and in South Sudan, during his stay in Sudan as WHO's country head. As Regional Advisor for the Eastern Mediterranean Region of WHO, Dr. Rab assisted in building research capacities, supported essential national health research, served as the focal person for ethics in health research and organized special grants and training programs for health researchers. Dr. Rab joined Ontario’s Western University in Canada in early 2012 to help develop the novel interfaculty MPH Program. As the founding director, he was inspirational in setting up the building blocks for the program and his legacy of changing the world will live on.
We submit our deepest condolences to his family and friends around the globe and pray for his forgiveness and ask Allah swt to place him in Janat ul Fredous . Ameen

To my colleagues and friends around the globe,

Happy New Year 2015.
It is already 2015 in some parts of the world and some of us are celebrating, whilst the rest are counting down the hours and minutes awaiting the New Year.

The humanitarian community has tried very hard to enhance health of those who are vulnerable and reduce human suffering during 2014; we have seen success stories and shortfalls. That being said, we hope the New Year will bring peace, tranquility and love replacing war and injustice.
