You suck. You almost had it.
Not only is it disappointing, you let down so many people.
That voice in your head? It’s loud after an almost win.
I know you don’t want to hear this.
It’s all c**a positive thinking crap.
Because when you almost win, it means you lost.
Because the almost win sucks.
It hurts deep.
Because the almost win whispers,
You weren’t good enough.
Because the almost win makes you question,
Why did I even bother trying?
Because the almost win tempts you to say,
I’m never doing this again.
The Jays almost won the World Series.
Two outs away.
Bo Bichette’s almost home run.
Runners stranded.
And Alejandro Kirk’s final ground ball double play, two men still on base.
It hurts because of how much it mattered.
It mattered so much that you showed up day after day,
through the challenges, through the doubt,
through the moments you didn’t think you had anything left.
Now that you’ve felt the “almost win,”
get back to the work.
Get back to the practice.
Get back to the version of you that keeps showing up,
not because it’s easy,
but because it matters that much.
So have your moment.
And now let’s celebrate.
Celebrate the Jays. Their work. The moments they gave us. The energy they created.
And celebrate you.
You’re one of the rare people who keeps showing up,
because the “almost wins” matter.
They drive you to become the one others admire and say,
“I wish I could be like them.”
💭 Drop a 💙 if you’re still in the game, celebrating your almost wins and all.
💙 Drop a heart for the Jays, thank them for all their hard work and the amazing memories we got to share.
