A reminder for you from this moment in nature:

Spring, as meaningful as it is, doesn’t mean nature is instantly alive again.
It is a recognition of the balancing of the dark and the light, and the impending lengthening of day.
In turn it signifies the stirring of the earth, and the animals that inhabit it.
It is the beginning of a new phase of growth - the true new year.
It is a celebration, absolutely.

But spring doesn’t ever force anything.
She takes her time.
She is subtle, soft.

There is so much to be learned from this.

Bloom in your own time.
Move at your own pace.

Trust yourself.

Living in tune with your cyclical body is easier than you think, and will make such a difference in your overall wellbeing!

Let’s break it down ⤵︎

Menstrual Phase:
• Prioritize rest for the first couple days - your body is going through enough
• Stretching can help relieve cramps and tension in the body - you can even do it from your bed!
• In late menstrual, if you’re feeling up to it, start introducing lighter weightlifting

Follicular Phase:
• As our energy naturally starts to increase, my advice is to gradually increase intensity - with exercise frequency (3-5 days a week) and the heaviness of your weights
• Take your time to reduce the chance of injury and give your nervous system time to adapt

Ovulatory Phase:
• Lift heavyyyy
• Go for personal bests

Luteal Phase:
• Gradually decrease your weights during this two week period to reduce stress in the body
• Introduce more freedom and fun! There’s a lot of joy to be found in trying calisthenics and dancing during this phase
• I love taking a pilates class or two during this phase. The social aspect, along with the combination of strength and conditioning feels so good when my mood and energy are naturally lower

And what is the base?

It’s your nervous system.

I want to be so for real with you; no health product, yoga class, or even a therapy session is going to heal you instantaneously.

I’m not saying these don’t help, of course they do.
They can all compound to a regulated nervous system - which allows for healing to take place.

Regulation is the key here.

Taking note of how you feel on a daily basis and working with your body to learn how to cope with life’s stressors is going to make these tools do even more for you.

This is flux by definition:
my life’s work and what I hope to bring to you.
Helping us all to adapt and evolve to move through life with more ease.

Grief. A journey to the absolute depths of what it means to be human.
To feel the full spectrum of emotions at once. Sadness, love, and everything in between.
To become a vessel, a vortex - of memory, time, love, and longing.
My best advice for any grieving human is to let it out.
Let your grief exist.
Make space for it in your life. Talk about it. Write about it.
Let it move though you, and take comfort in knowing that you are never alone in this Grief. A journey to the absolute depths of what it means to be human.
