Posterior shoulder capsule tightness can limit internal rotation and contribute to shoulder pain, impingement symptoms, and reduced overhead movement.

Posterior glenohumeral joint glides are a manual therapy technique used to improve joint mobility, reduce stiffness, and restore more normal shoulder mechanics. Addressing posterior capsule restrictions can help decrease pain, improve range of motion, and support more efficient movement during daily and athletic activities.

Prehab focuses on identifying movement limitations, strength deficits, and mobility restrictions before they lead to injury. Addressing these issues early helps reduce injury risk, improve performance, and support long-term joint health.

Prehab is commonly used before surgery, during periods of increased training, or when early warning signs like stiffness or recurring discomfort appear. A proactive approach can often prevent setbacks and keep people moving confidently.

In this video, our physiotherapist, Prince, explains how your shoulder blades can affect your posture.

Your shoulder blades (scapulae) are essential to posture because they provide the structural and muscular foundation for shoulder and upper‑extremity function. When scapular position and motion are well controlled, the neck, ribcage, and shoulders can align efficiently, reducing unnecessary muscular effort. When scapular mechanics are altered, individuals often compensate with forward head posture, increased thoracic rounding, or elevated (shrugged) shoulders—patterns that may contribute to muscle tightness, fatigue, and, in some cases, pain.

Prince provides care at our PinPoint Health TOPS clinic, serving the North Etobicoke, Rexdale and Malton communities. Click the link below to learn more.

The McGill Big 3—curl-up, side plank, bird dog—are foundational exercises in spinal rehabilitation. They create stiffness where the spine needs support while avoiding unnecessary load on irritated tissues.

Why we use them:
• Activate deep core stabilizers
• Improve spine tolerance to movement
• Reduce recurrence of low back pain
• Build a safety-first foundation before progressing in strength

These exercises are evidence-based, beginner-friendly, and key to helping patients return to training with confidence.
