Today's organism, or should we say genus, is Salmonella. Salmonella is a genus of rod-shaped bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family. Different species of salmonella are associated with a variety of human diseases including common infections like salmonellosis and more serious infections like typhoid. Exposure is commonly through contaminated food or water.
