At The 4th Space, we believe therapy should be accessible to everyone regardless of your financial situation. That’s why we are adopting the Green Bottle Method, a sliding scale approach that outlines how to choose a pricing tier that feels most comfortable for you.

Our new sliding scale ranges from $60 to $140, creating space for therapy that prioritizes your personal AND financial needs. There’s no judgement, no questions, and no need for proof.

Grief is often seen as something we feel for the loss of others or external circumstances. However, a potentially more common, but less heard of, form of grief is centered around ourselves and the impact circumstances like trauma can have on what we envisioned life to be.

In moments of uncertainty or confusion, we often forget that there is a place within us that remains steady, compassionate, and clear. Internal Family Systems is a therapy modality I am frequently influenced by that is centered on this belief - a knowing that our core Self leads us through wisdom, rather than fear.

Swipe through to learn some reflective questions that can encourage us to get in touch with this wisdom (even if it’s been a while since you and your Self have gotten in touch). 🫶🏼

P.S: A note for anyone fasting this Ramadan - the concept of our fitrah (our natural state, rooted in peace and connection, both with ourselves and our Creator) carries similarities to IFS’s sense of Self.

When religion or spirituality has been used to control or harm, disconnecting can feel like the only way to reclaim yourself. And that makes sense.

But is disconnection forever the goal?

As someone within the q***r community, I’ve navigated my own journey of deconstructing how organized religion was taught to me. I won’t pretend it’s been easy—it’s a process that takes time. But as I moved through it, I found myself wondering: What happens after we’ve taken everything apart? How do we rebuild this part of our lives in a way that feels authentic and meaningful?

Exploring this kind of thoughtful, supportive reconnection is something I care about deeply in my work. To any q***r and/or marginalized folks who have felt pushed away from spirituality because of harm or exclusion—I see you. Sitting with these parts of ourselves doesn’t have to mean leaving them behind entirely. Sometimes, it’s about finding your way back—on your own terms.

We love this beautiful quote from the incredible and deeply missed bell hooks 🖤🙏

bell hooks was a lovely human, a scholar, author, and activist who wrote over 30 books that have been pivotal to society and to shifting the conversation to a more equitable one.

She wasn’t afraid to address race, gender, class, feminism, sexuality, self-care and all of the intersections in between. Her bravery, advocacy, and activism is something that must never be forgotten ✨

We loved this quote of hers from ‘All About Love’ because it’s in alignment with why this community was created. We are all in need of a caring community that truly sees us on our respective self-care journeys in order to heal 💜

So thankful for the opportunity to join in with Poetry Decoded & Born Somali for the last chapter of their Rewrite Your Story workshop series this past weekend.

It was an honor to hold space for conversation on embodiment and guiding a practice to support gentle reconnection with the body and all its wisdom. Grateful to everyone who showed up with such openness and curiosity. May we continue finding ways to listen to ourselves - through words, through movement, and through each other. 💌

Growing up, I found so much personal value and healing in stories. Whether that be books, movies, television shows, or even verbal stories from friends & family - there’s something so personally impactful about seeing parts of yourself in this art form.

In my own work as a therapist, I find that Narrative Therapy expands on that very experience. It deliberately and intentionally hands you the pen to write, to explore, and to dream new possibilities.

🌟 If you’re curious on how to get started applying Narrative techniques into your own life, consider beginning your therapy journey with me. I’m currently offering free, 15-minute consultations to answer any questions or curiosities. 💌

In light of recent world news, it’s entirely understandable to feel overwhelmed or unsettled by the weight of what’s happening around us. For many, this sense of unease is not new—it’s a familiar undercurrent in a world that often feels unpredictable and harmful. Yet, moments like these serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing personal and collective work we’re all called to engage in.

Although this blog post was technically written a couple weeks ago, it's message and explanation of the development of The 4th Space feels relevant - especially given the news following the American inauguration and the re-emboldening of policies full of hatred, violence, and divisiveness. How do we continue to be brave in the face of fear? How do we nurture curiosity and stay open to learning, even in moments of uncertainty? And how do we remain steadfast in our dedication to imagining and working toward a world where the safety, interconnectedness, and justice we all deserve can truly exist?

At The 4th Space, these are questions held close as we strive to create a sanctuary for connection and healing. The work is not easy, but we hope it can begin in spaces like this - where discomfort can be acknowledged, where hope can take root, and where the courage to reimagine a better future is nurtured. We are here to remind you that even in the face of chaos, this work matters. You matter, regardless of what any executive order tells you. We can imagine a world that is better than this, but it will require all of us.

Resourcing is one of the first steps I prioritize with clients as we begin therapy. Creating meaningful change can feel overwhelming—or even re-traumatizing—if we don’t first take the time to understand our nervous system’s baseline and explore how to build comfort with shifting between states. Developing a sense of movement or flexibility within your baseline can make the process of therapy feel safer and more manageable. It reassures us that as we navigate challenging or heavy topics, we have a toolkit of resources to help us regulate and return to a sense of safety.

Resourcing is all about discovering what feels supportive for you, your body, and your nervous system. While everyone’s needs are unique, here are some common strategies you can try:

- Dorsal Vagal (Shutdown/Freeze): Gentle stretches or yoga, rhythmic movements like rocking or dancing, humming, energizing sensory input (such as a warm drink, a heating pad, or exploring unusual textures)

- Sympathetic (Fight/Flight): Brisk walks or runs, shaking, dancing, stimulating your senses with sour or minty candy or gum, visualizing a safe space, or practicing controlled breathing techniques.

- Ventral Vagal (Calm/Connection): Restorative yoga, creative activities like journaling or drawing, hobbies, and gratitude or spiritual practices.

💭 Are there any strategies you can see yourself implementing? Do you do any of them already? 🌿

If you live in Ontario & you’d like to learn more about how you can begin your journey with resourcing in therapy, reach out for a free consultation. 💌

Hi everyone! 🧡

As we get started here at The 4th Space, I thought it could be fun to do a quick personal introduction & share a bit about our current offerings.

My name is Taylor (she/her). I am the founder of The 4th Space & a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO. Creating The 4th Space has stemmed from a life long journey of witnessing the impact of what a lack of community, lack of mental health care, and lack of connection creates - whether that be personally, relationally, or collectively. My hope is for The 4th Space to be a place where we can rebuild those bridges, rediscover connection, and create spaces that feel healing and supportive for us all.

🌟 I am currently offering virtual therapy for individuals, couples, and families in Ontario looking to rediscover what safety in connection looks like. I have experience supporting clients in a myriad of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, systemic stressors, life/relational challenges, and spiritual development. Aspects of these experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from our emotions, our bodies, and each other, making it hard to know where to begin. I aim to offer a chance to start untangling those threads in a space that feels safe, compassionate, and collaborative.

If any of this resonates with you, or you’re curious to learn more, I’d love to connect. I offer free 15–20 minute consultations where we can chat about your questions and explore whether this feels like the right fit for you. 💌

➡️ Stay tuned for: upcoming community initiatives*, a currently-in-development workbook, & more.

* We’re currently on the look out for community partnerships to collaborate with! If you or someone you know is interested in developing community events/spaces that are in alignment with The 4th Space’s mission, feel free to send us a DM or email.

Thank you for being here. 🫶🏼
