Laughing in the Therapy Room? Yes, We Dare!

Using humour in therapy isn’t exactly a walk in the park. How do you stay present when a client storms in declaring, “I hate art!” or shrugs with an “I’ll do that tomorrow… if I can?” It takes more than quick wit — it takes deep attunement.
How do you spot those subtle shifts in mood, those sparkling moments when a client becomes suddenly insightful — or even chuckles at your Freudian slip?
When a client laughs at a realisation, the shift is not just mental but visceral, creating deeper assimilation and psycho-physiological healing. With skilful and warm-hearted intention, humour can catalyse genuine change.
Hephzibah Kaplan and Dr. Brian Kaplan invite us to lighten up and to rediscover the healing joy of not taking ourselves too seriously. Together, they’ll show us how reverse psychology works, how to laugh with our clients, at ourselves, hold the space for the clients’ healthy humour, and to find grace in it — even when life goes wildly off-script.

Humour is part of therapy — and it deserves to be celebrated and learned!

Join us on November 28, 9:30-11AM EST for an online, live workshop, where laughter meets insight, and therapy finds its playful and most rewarding side.

Recording replay available for those that cannot make the live session.
