Art and Expressive Arts Therapy Diplomas
Our 2.5-year programs integrate theory, embodied learning, history, nature, and Indigenous ways of knowing. Students engage in in-person summer and spring immersions, online coursework, and supervised practicum experience. Academic support helps develop a culminating research project. Through an experiential, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive framework, students develop the core competencies needed to become skilled and reflective art and expressive arts therapists. The combined use of art and expressive arts modalities allows greater flexibility to meet clients’ creative strengths and preferences. —————————————
2. Creative and Expressive Arts Certificate: Foundations in Arts Therapies
This one-year program brings together talented educators, therapists, and artists to share their expertise. Weekend classes and summer and spring immersions at Painted Sky Studio in St. Laurent, Manitoba cover Poetry, Visual Arts, Video Storytelling, Music, Movement, Drama, inter-modal expressive arts philosophy, and somatic work.
Certificate students can ladder into our Expressive Arts Therapy or Dual Art and Expressive Arts Therapy Diploma programs.

3. Métis Creative Arts Certificate
Reflecting our commitment to the Indigenous resurgence, the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and our location on Treaty 1 territory - the homeland of the Red River Métis, this one-year program celebrates Métis history, culture and identity. Students explore hide work, beading, storytelling, writing, felting, film, fiddling, and other traditional arts through three immersions at Painted Sky Studio in St. Laurent, Manitoba and online offerings. Working alongside core teacher Tatum Albert and Aunty Skye Wikjord, our 2025 students have been inspired and moved by Métis artists Natalie Pepin, Christi Belcourt and katherena vermette. The deeper dive into Métis culture, language and practice, as well as the return to the Métis homelands has been truly life changing for our students.

"Christi's teachings and group discussions brought profound insights, highlighting how art can advocate for causes without aggression or causing harm. While listening, I created two pieces, reflecting on the symbolism of often overlooked night walkers, critters that bring value to our ecosystem. The second was a turtle with a river flowing beneath it, reflecting on clean water providing sustained life, allowing the turtle to thrive. Respectful conversations in class reminded me of the hope in connection and the power of disarming hate within ourselves and others as a form of resistance. It starts within. Connection is healing. Art is medicine."
