Feelings stuck? Feeling like you'll never achieve the change you're looking for?

Here are two quick tips that helped me: the awareness that I am in control and that I have the ability to choose.

At each moment we can choose...

We can choose the healthier food option. We can choose to attempt that workout we've been eyeing for weeks.

Often times we're held back by the illusion that we're not in control, that we don't have the choice.

This illusion is then supercharged by the stories we tell ourselves...

"Just eat another slice of cake, you're never going to change anyway"

"Don't bother with that workout, you won't finish it"

We have to remember that we are always in control and therefore we always have the option to choose.

Choose to see these stories for what they are, invisible harnesses and choose not to be held back by them.

Choose change and make the choices that are going to get you to where you want to go.

Last night my Ky-Ky had a hard night.

Completely out of nowhere, she had a very tough time sleeping.

I walked and carried her like I had done so many nights before. Within minutes, the walking calmed her down and she fell asleep in my arms.

I remember walking with her in the past, looking at the clock every few minutes, wondering when she was going to fall asleep; wondering when I was going to sleep.

Last night, these were not my thoughts.

As I walked with her toddler body asleep in my arms. My thoughts were only with her tiny angelic face, her soft breath sounds; perfect, even.

I cuddled her body in my arms that somehow was so much bigger than the last time I did this. I realized then that I couldn't remember when last I did this. And I realized this might be the new last time I did this.

I soaked it in. I held and walked with her long after she had fallen asleep. Mentally making a note of the date.

We've all been there, we are living life; enjoying our positive energy and someone or something comes in and ruins it.

Or should I say, we ALLOW someone or something to ruin it. Because remember, at every given moment, each one of us are responsible for how we feel.

This used to happen to me all the time! I used to wonder how myself or anyone could maintain a high vibe?

Then I tried something, I listened to my thoughts after I had allowed that someone or something to crush my vibe...nothing but complaining, blame and the victim role.

I realized then two things:

1. I was allowing someone or something to crush my vibe.

2. In doing so, I was manifesting more such situations into my life by the thoughts of blame, complaining  and assuming the victim role.

So I tried something different.

The very next time I encountered negativity, I actively visualized myself living my goal.

I quietly pictured it in my mind, I felt it and breathed it in, right in the face of the negativity.

It was hard at first but in time, it became easier and easier.

And of course, my high vibe was maintained!

Nowadays, I don't allow anyone or anything to ruin my vibe.  I'm in control.

Nowadays when I'm faced with a negative person or situation, I simply smile on the inside and quietly manifest my dream life! 😉

Everyday I tell her that she is perfect.

Absolutely perfect.

My desire is for her to know who she is; God's perfect creation...no adjustments, no modifications needed.

And this does not come from a place of perfectionism, a mother boasting to others of the beauty of her child.

You see we are all perfect.

Each one of us are perfect in our own beautiful ways.

I think we have been conditioned to forget this.

Society tends to cater to humility and modesty versus claiming our perfection.

I too was conditioned in this way.

But I now know better.

Now, I'm aware of who I am, who my daughter is, who all of you are, absolutely perfect human beings.

So I tell her this everyday, multiple times a day.

I'm conditioning her to know who she is. To accept and claim her perfection.

So that she never accepts less than what she deserves.

So she never chooses less than want she desires.

So that she never settles for less than what she is worth.

I tell her every day, like I'm telling you now...

So yesterday, I was baptized. 

My daughter had her first public meltdown.

Suddenly and without warning, I was the woman with the screaming child. 

I didn't look around, but as I struggled to keep her calm, I could see heads turning from the corner of my eye.

In my utter desperation, I grabbed a small bag of Doritos from the stand near the cash and attempted to bribe her. 

I didn't work.

We made it home and she calmed down within 5 minutes, like the whole thing never even happened.

Me?  Well I ate that bag of Doritos as a way to relax.

At the end of it all, I was filled with gratitude.

Even as the meltdown unfolded, I was so grateful that I had a daughter to embarrass me in public.

I was grateful that I had the privilege to shop in a clean, safe store and buy whatever I wanted.

I was grateful that I was able to enjoy those chips guilt-free.

And I'm still grateful.

You see, there will be more days where I'm embarrassed in public as another meltdown unfolds.

There will be more days when all I need is junk food.

And there will also be more days full of warm hugs and toddlers kisses.

There will be more days of tiny hands wrapped tightly around my neck.

So yesterday, like everyday, I take it as it comes, grateful for it all.

So yesterday, I was baptized.

My daughter had her first public meltdown.

Suddenly and without warning, I was the woman with the screaming child.

Let's Talk SUGAR! Specifically, refined Sugar!

As a Health Coach, many clients come to me with complaints of sugar cravings that they just can't kick!

I'll be honest, refined sugar usually does taste really good; pictured here is one of my favourite treats BUT what happens in our bodies when we eat refined sugar?

Food products that are full of refined sugar usually do not contain a lot of FIBRE, PROTEIN or HEALTHY FATS.

Fibre, protein and healthy fats help to slow our bodies absorption of sugar. So, when those NUTRIENTS are not found in the foods we eat, our blood sugar levels spike.

How do our bodies respond to the spike in blood sugar levels?

When working properly, our bodies will produce INSULIN.

Insulin works to lower our blood sugar levels and can be so effective, that we are left with that famous SUGAR CRASH that usually follows a SUGAR HIGH.

What usually follows a sugar crash?

A craving for more sugar! And the pattern continues; an unfortunate cycling of high blood sugar levels followed by a blood sugar level crash.

A regular cycling between high and low blood sugar levels can lead to MOOD DISTURBANCES, WEIGHT GAIN and the development of ADULT ONSET DIABETES.

So what's the Solution?!

Enjoy refined sugar sparingly, if at all and MAKE BETTER FOOD CHOICES full of Healthy Snacks that will allow you to CRUSH those sugar cravings for good! .

Support vs. Stretch.

Have you ever considered the difference between the people in your life who Support you vs. those who Stretch you?

Support can defined as: to give assistance to, enable to function or act.

Stretch can be defined as: to be made or be capable of being made longer or wider without tearing or breaking.

Generally, people who Support you:
*don't want you to get hurt
*want you to feel love
*tell you "it's ok"
*want you to feel safe

Generally, people who Stretch you:
*don't want you to waste your potential
*want you to feel challenged
*ask you "how are you going to do it better next time?"
*love you too much to let you stay where you are

We all need Support, yet it's been said, that it is dangerous to one's self-improvement, to have too many people in their life who Support them and not enough people in their life who Stretch them!

Look around you. Do you have enough people in your life who are Stretching you to achieve your goals?

Who are Stretching you to be the best version of yourself?

Who are Stretching you to live out your dreams?

The people we surround ourselves with directly impacts the type and level of success we can achieve.

Let's Talk BREAKFAST!

Rumoured to be the most important meal of the day, many of us make efforts to ensure that we consume proper food each morning!

Myself included, I am very choosy when it comes to breakfast.

As a Health Coach, I ask my clients to consider the word BREAKFAST.

Essentially after the average 6-8 hour nights rest, we have placed our bodies in a fasting state.

The next meal we eat after this fasting state is 'breaking the fast'!

During a fasting state, our blood sugar levels lower and therefore, what we choose to eat when we 'break the fast' is to me, quite important!

Will I spike my blood sugar level with a muffin or donut?

Or will I gradually raise my blood sugar level with protein, healthy fats and fibre?

Little tips like these go a long way as I guide my clients through their HEALTHY TRANSFORMATIONS!

Positive Manifestations or Worrying...which would you choose?

Most would choose positive manifestations over worrying...but is it that easy?

In our busy, metropolitan and wired society, we have almost been conditioned to worry.

Will I get into university? Will I get a scholarship? Will I get the great job? Will my IG post get a lot of likes? 😉 We tend to worry
about the big areas of our lives and sometimes spread that worry, while discussing it with friends and family.

I have witnessed others manifest their worries...I have personally manifested my own. Most times, I was shocked at how easily my fears became my reality.

And then I thought: "What if instead of obsessing over a reality I didn't want, I put that energy into something I DID WANT"?

What if we were conditioned to manifest our goals? What if it was a basic part of our busy society to positively focus on what we want, instead of worrying if we will achieve it?

With every thought, we have a choice...positive or negative...our thoughts are ALWAYS our choice.

What if we always, or at least 90% of the time, chose positive thoughts over worried thoughts? What more would open up for us? What more could be achieved?

Nowadays, I try to be SO MUCH MORE mindful of my thoughts. I don't just think about the outcome I want, I train myself daily to be laser focused on that outcome. How I would feel? How I would look? I train myself to embody that outcome as if it was already mine.

The next time you catch yourself worrying, focus on achieving your goals instead. It won't cost you anything, it will probably reduce your stress level and it might just bring you closer to the reality you want!

When I accepted the truth that what I desire is already mine, there was shift.

As I began to understand this truth, I realized that only thing separating me from what I desired was my awareness.

In order to achieve what I desired, I would first have to become aware of how to achieve it.

The How. Which is the great question that many ask themselves when they set their sights on a worthy goal.

The How. The great unknown that causes many to abandon their journey, sometimes before it has even begun.

As many know, we don't have to know the how. Not the whole how.

We have to trust. We have to listen.

We have to accept that one step at a time, the how is revealed to us from our Higher Selves, as we take Inspired Action.

As we take inspired action, one step at a time, the next step of the how is revealed.

One. Step. At. A. Time.

A process so delicate, so beautiful, so effective, if we only trust and listen.

Decide and Declare upon a worthy goal.

Focus on it. Visualize it. Embody it.

Clear the energy that no longer serves.

Listen, trust.

Take inspired action and one step at a time, the how will be revealed to you.

One step at a time, you will become aware of how to achieve your goal.
