Our Story
NeuroNova Centre for Mindful Solutions Inc. (www.neuronovacentre.com) (NNC) was established in 2012 to train and accredit others to facilitate its Mindfulness courses world-wide and to additionally bring such courses “upstream” into the corporate world. The Mindfulness-Based Chronic Pain Management (MBCPM) course enhances resilience, and has been said, by many chronic pain sufferers, to have been transformative, and improved relationships in families and workplaces. Chronic pain and stress sufferers/participants have reported increased productivity, decreased medication usage, and improved wellbeing.
Founded by a physician, Dr. Jackie Gardner-Nix, with a pain practice in Toronto, Canada, teaching hospital pain clinics, participants learn the principles of mindfulness meditation and how the practice may reduce symptoms of pain, occupational stress injury, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and burnout. Mindfulness Practice can change the intensity of both emotional and physical suffering in a very positive way. It may also lead to relationship improvements with family and others.
In collaboration with University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, NNC “trains the trainers”: Other health care professionals who deliver these courses to clients and patients. NNC provides certification levels and mentorship to those running the courses. Our trainings and courses use mindfulness and meditation practices to reduce stress and burnout of health care professionals, while caring for clients who can be challenging, and providing them with greater insight into chronic pain and disease.
NNC also coordinates invited workshops, presentations, and the delivery of courses to leaders and staff of corporations.
