🎄✨ This Christmas hits different. ✨🎄

2024 wasn’t easy—it tested, stretched, and sometimes broke us. But here we are. Breathing. Standing. Alive. And that alone is a miracle worth celebrating.

This year taught us the power of resilience and the beauty of small joys. It reminded us that even in the darkest moments, light finds a way to shine through. Whether it was a kind word, a warm hug, or simply the strength to take one more step forward, we made it.

As we gather this Christmas, let’s hold gratitude close. For the lessons learned, the battles fought, and the grace that carried us through.

Here’s to love that heals, hope that grows, and the unshakable truth that we are stronger than we know. ❤️

Merry Christmas to all who made it through 2024. You are a gift to this world. 🌟

🌟 Monday Motivation 🌟

🐲 As we embark on a new week, let us cultivate the unwavering belief in ourselves that transforms dreams into reality. Much like the serenity found in 🧘🏻‍♀️ yoga 🧘🏻‍♂️, where each pose invites us to explore our inner balance and resilience, or in 🥋 martial arts 🥷, where every 🥊 strike 🥊 demands discipline and confidence, self-belief is the cornerstone of our journey. 🐉

⛩️ Embrace the path ahead with courage and conviction. 🙏🏼 Trust in your practice 🙏🏼, honor your progress, and witness the extraordinary heights you can reach. Today, let the 🔥fire 🔥 of self-belief ignite your spirit and propel you toward greatness. 🏆

💪🏼 “We don’t even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward.” - Isabel Allende 🔥

🥋 This Budokon technique, called “Warrior’s Bridge”, embodies its Japanese translation of “Way of the Warrior Spirit”. Not only does it symbolize resilience and tenacity, but the move’s practical ground fighting application is an escape from an opponent’s mounted attack. 🦍

🧘🏻‍♂️ During life’s uphill battles, we must reach deep within to unleash our warrior spirit. Never give up the fight, because one day everything’s gonna be alright 🎶

❤️‍🩹 Healing 🧘🏻‍♂️ Meditation 🏖️ at Home 🇺🇸

After nearly 6 years, it sure feels good to be back home in Jersey. Man I’ve missed this place and it’s the first time visiting the Jersey Shore. I can’t believe I didn’t take advantage of Cape May growing up. Never forget your roots and where you come from. No matter where you’ve traveled or moved to in your lifetime, there’s no place like home 🏡 In this moment I am happy … happy 🥲 I wish you were all here 🎶

🐲 Be a warrior 🥋. Fight for what you believe in and never hold back. No matter the situation, stand your ground in the face of conflict. 🔥 Keep the fire blazing and your passion burning 🔥. Remind yourself your mission is worth fighting for and you have the strength and tenacity to overcome every obstacle you encounter because you, my friend, are a warrior. 🥷

🤩 I would like to introduce a brand new Keung Lui Gung pose called, “Fighting Warrior 5” that helps martial artists condition many areas of the body. The pose’s deep yogic breathing cultivates strong inner energy (“Chi”) and teaches patience to hold postures for long periods of time. 🧘🏻‍♂️

Benefits
* Improves balance when chambering kicks
* Strengthens core for taking strikes to the abdomen
* Pressing of the shoulder girdle together improves posture
* Balancing position strengthens legs for strong kicks and stances
* Hand position conditions arms to maintain a constant guard to protect the head during battle
* Heart opening position increases circulation to allow healthy blood flow during movement
* Deep yogic breathing helps maintain stamina during long striking combos

Try it out! How does it feel? How does it help in your martial arts training?

Stay curious. Never be afraid to try and explore new ideas. Experimental mixing of traditional genres and concepts can create fresh and exciting works of art.

Throughout my career, I always developed new ways to keep my martial arts and yoga programs unique. I would fuse traditional techniques with modern trends to make my classes interesting and engaging. I would push my students to get out of their comfort zone and open their mind to new styles of movement. It allowed them to think “outside the box”, both on and off the mat. That’s the beauty of Mixed Movement Arts; it opens your mind to so many possibilities.

“Rise like a Phoenix from the ashes of failures, reborn to conquer the world”. - Anonymous

Despite life’s many obstacles, the legendary Phoenix reminds us that we have the eternal fire to heal in the darkest times. Our inner🔥 can regenerate our health, renew our relationships, and reignite our creative endeavors. We are reborn as Phoenixes and know that we can begin again.

In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I give you Keung Lui Gung’s Fighting Phoenix. In Asian culture, this mythical bird represents the balance of Yin and Yang ☯️. This “flying” section of the sequence is a variation of Warrior I.

Benefits
• Serves as a heart opener to increase circulation
• Improves posture
• Increases mobility and flexibility in hip flexors
• Strengthens legs
• Stretches calves to increase circulation

As you breathe and stretch in this pose, imagine yourself as an immortal Phoenix shedding your past as your start a new beginning. Let me know how it feels!

🐲Happy AAPI Month!

My first yoga teacher, who was also a naturopathic doctor, always said our sedentary culture would cause major stiffness in different areas of the body. If you’re someone who spends the majority of your day sitting at work, you know the uncomfortable feeling of tight hips accompanied by restlessness.

Additionally, as martial artists our hips are often stiff from the constant torquing movements of punching, kicking, blocking, and tai sabaki (whole body movement). When I first started yoga, I could barely do any hip openers.

In my signature style of Keung Lui Gung, I’ve created Fighting Pigeon, which builds on the traditional version of pigeon pose:

Benefits

• Increases mobility and flexibility in the hip joint
• Stretches hip flexors and hamstrings
• Strengthens lower back
• Serves as a heart opener to increase circulation to the chest
• Improves posture
• Strengthens shoulders

Have fun with it and let me know how it feels. Osu 🙏🏼
