👩🏽⚕️ Doctor–Patient Conversation (My BP machine is shouting big numbers 😃)
Doctor: Good morning! What brings you in today?
Patient: My BP machine at home is stressing me out, doc. It keeps shouting numbers like it’s angry at me 😭
Doctor: Hmm… what kind of numbers?
Patient: 160/100. But I think it’s because I was arguing with my neighbor before checking. That shouldn’t count, right?
Doctor: 😄 Unfortunately, your blood pressure doesn’t care who started the argument. High is high.
Patient: But I feel fine! No headache, nothing.
Doctor: That’s the tricky part. Hypertension is called the “silent killer.” No symptoms… until it causes problems.
Patient: So my body is just quietly plotting against me?
Doctor: You could say that. Over time, high BP can affect your heart, kidneys, brain… not a friendly plan.
Patient: Okay okay, I’m listening now 😅 What did I do wrong?
Doctor: Let’s see… salt intake?
Patient: If salt was a love language, I’d be fluent.
Doctor: 😄 That explains part of it. What about exercise?
Patient: I run… out of patience. Does that count?
Doctor: Nice try. You need real movement — at least 30 minutes most days.
Patient: Hmm. And medication? My friend said once you start, you can’t stop 😳
Doctor: Not always forever, but stopping without advice is risky. The goal is to protect your organs, not just lower numbers.
Patient: So basically… less salt, more movement, take my meds, and avoid arguments before checking BP?
Doctor: Exactly. And check your BP when you’re calm — not mid-drama.
Patient: Ah… so the real diagnosis is “too much stress and too much jollof rice”?
Doctor: 😂 I didn’t say stop the jollof… just reduce the salt and portion!
💡 Takeaway:
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can cause serious damage over time.
✔ Eat less salt
✔ Stay active
✔ Take medications as prescribed
✔ Check your BP regularly (when calm!)
