Green spaces are key for mental & physical health of the community. Especially green spaces that were originally designed for recreational use, like the Mission Heights Toboggan Hill & Ravine.

I would greatly appreciate a minute of your time to help our community regain access to this green space area, by signing this petition. šŸŒž

8 weeks of being aware of what I’m consuming, moving my body in strategic ways & consistency.

Weight loss feels like a taboo word in the fitness industry right now- as crazy as that is lol. You CAN love yourself & still desire weight loss. Weight loss isn’t just about looks. It’s about so much more- your health! When I put on weight my joints hurt, I can’t move as easily & I can’t do the things I love without being in discomfort. I don’t really care what the scale says, but I do care how my body performs & how I feel in my body. The word weight loss doesn’t have to be associated with not loving yourself- it can be a form of self care.

On that note, weight loss isn’t about the scale. It’s actually about changing your body composition. Less fat, more muscle & more endurance/energy. I actually dislike the term ā€œweight lossā€ because it’s misleading; Some people lose fat & gain muscle- and the scale actually goes up! So it doesn’t have much to do with weight, but instead it has everything to do with body composition.

To track body composition changes, I personally find the most practical ways are to use progress photos & measurements. The scale isn’t a reliable tool to gauge body composition changes.
Right now I have lost a combined total of 7 inches & these are my progress photos. My client who has been working out with me has lost a combined total of 7.5 inches so far! There are different methods to achieve body composition changes, but my biggest advice would be to choose a method that is going to be maintainable long term. If it’s something that is maintainable long term- your results will last. The rule of thumb with fitness programs is that once your goal is reached, you can keep your results by maintaining the intensity of training but decreasing the volume or frequency of training by 1/3 of your current fitness level. Maintainable lifestyle changes might take a bit longer for you to see those results- but once you get them, you can actually keep them.

Whether or not you choose fitness as a tool to improve your physical and mental health- your self worth & value has nothing to do with your body, it has everything to do with who you are as a person. šŸ’›

Happy World Breastfeeding Week!

Isn’t it amazing that our bodies can grow another human being? And THEN! We BIRTH that bowling ball sized human & continue to be its sustaining life source! šŸ¼

And to think, after our bodies do ALL that miraculous work- we get hung up on how our bodies have changed. Or we desperately try to get back to that ā€œpre baby bodyā€.

I say this while walking in these shoes right now- sacrificing self love over how your body looks after it’s done such an incredible thing, is ludicrous.

Your body is so much more than what society wants to monetize you into. So to all those mamas keeping their babies fed & happy- this week is for you. 😘

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! And a special happy Father’s Day to the man who teaches his sons to be loving & kind. The boys are so lucky to have a dad who is truly their number one fan. Who wants better for his children than what he had/has. Who prioritizes his children above all else. I wish every child out there was as lucky as our boys, to have the dad that they do.
We love you Tyler.

Every personal trainer should have priorities for their clients.
āļøAssist a client in moving their body in a way that is SAFE and also tailored to meet their goals.

That sounds easy enough to do right? It is when the trainer is educated & holds those values. However, clients don’t always know what that means; they don’t understand that there’s a science & well studied methods for exercising. All they typically know are if they are seeing/feeling results & if they like their trainer.

When injuries happen a lot of clients take the blame - but that isn’t fair. If your trainer is getting you to move in unsafe patterns, with unbalanced programs, and without a solid foundation - an injury is bound to occur either in a training session or during a every day activity.

Physiotherapists & massage therapists should be working in conjunction with personal trainers, not in spite of them.

There needs to be a much higher standard of who is called a personal trainer & who we trust to help us exercise. Don’t be afraid to ask trainers for their credentials & question them about the WHY behind programs, exercise choices & movement patterns.

Healthcare includes exercise, and it’s an industry that I hope is better regulated in the future to protect peoples bodies.

A really interesting read regarding pelvic floor health & cycling.

I’ve been taking my boys for regular bike rides & have been experiencing some prolapse symptoms again. It got me trying to figure out what changed & I realized it was the increase of bike rides- which led me down this rabbit hole!

Pelvic health is something we need to put more focus on & normalize. It’s incredibly important & intricately involves both internal and external muscles. It’s not just about muscle strength, it’s also about knowing how to relax muscles as well.

I could ramble about this subject for days, so I’ll leave this here! Lol

Cycling is a great activity to stay fit and healthy. However, it comes at a price. Cycling is not the kindest sport to your v***a and va**na – potentially taking a toll on your pelvic floor. In cycling, a strong pelvic floor can help contribute to core

ED trigger warning.

I’m saddened to see the headlines today, featuring Kim K at the Met Gala, after losing 16 lbs in 3 weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroes dress. What disturbs me even more is the fact that this is being applauded, condoned and normalized in the media.

I repeat: disordered eating and dangerous weight loss practices are being praised and normalized in the name of fashion, for ALL eyes to see.

This is a disgusting display of diet culture and just a reminder that we have so SO far to go.

This will happen and our kids will be exposed to it. But I assure you that the messages and narrative at home is what matters most. It is what will stick; what will become your child’s inner dialogue. Inquiring and curious kids need to know that this isn’t ok, nor is it healthy or beautiful. In fact, it’s dangerous.

Clothing is meant to fit your body. Not the other way around. ā¤ļø
