8 weeks of being aware of what Iām consuming, moving my body in strategic ways & consistency.
Weight loss feels like a taboo word in the fitness industry right now- as crazy as that is lol. You CAN love yourself & still desire weight loss. Weight loss isnāt just about looks. Itās about so much more- your health! When I put on weight my joints hurt, I canāt move as easily & I canāt do the things I love without being in discomfort. I donāt really care what the scale says, but I do care how my body performs & how I feel in my body. The word weight loss doesnāt have to be associated with not loving yourself- it can be a form of self care.
On that note, weight loss isnāt about the scale. Itās actually about changing your body composition. Less fat, more muscle & more endurance/energy. I actually dislike the term āweight lossā because itās misleading; Some people lose fat & gain muscle- and the scale actually goes up! So it doesnāt have much to do with weight, but instead it has everything to do with body composition.
To track body composition changes, I personally find the most practical ways are to use progress photos & measurements. The scale isnāt a reliable tool to gauge body composition changes.
Right now I have lost a combined total of 7 inches & these are my progress photos. My client who has been working out with me has lost a combined total of 7.5 inches so far! There are different methods to achieve body composition changes, but my biggest advice would be to choose a method that is going to be maintainable long term. If itās something that is maintainable long term- your results will last. The rule of thumb with fitness programs is that once your goal is reached, you can keep your results by maintaining the intensity of training but decreasing the volume or frequency of training by 1/3 of your current fitness level. Maintainable lifestyle changes might take a bit longer for you to see those results- but once you get them, you can actually keep them.
Whether or not you choose fitness as a tool to improve your physical and mental health- your self worth & value has nothing to do with your body, it has everything to do with who you are as a person. š
