Deep Breathing is a strategy we use with our clients in the moment to help calm anxieties and also to serve as a distraction to their thoughts.

Counting our breaths while we inhale and exhale takes our minds off the source of anxiety and whenever the mind wanders, we can simply returning the focus back to counting our breaths.

It's officially FALL!

My fall favourite is cozy sweaters and blankets! Nothing better then getting cozy and reading a book, doing a craft or putting on a great show.

What is your FALL favourite?

Do you do or have anything that makes it feel more like the season?

🔥Energy Conservation TIPS!🔥

With only 12 spoons a day, planning out your day is so important to avoid over exerting yourself and crashing in the following days to come.

Let's take a look at what this means;

Knowing washing and drying your hair takes a lot of energy (and therefore spoons), planning this during the best time of the day (mornings? early afternoon?) will help you avoid crashing. Make sure to take breaks throughout the process too!

Meal prep is a task that can leave you feeling exhausted. Planning around how you might do this and breaking it up throughout the day can help you avoid a major crash the next day.

🥕Will you sit down to cut veggies or stand up?
🥕If you have 10 carrots to cut, can you work in a break between each carrot?
🥕Are there any devices that can make this task easier for you? (Try using a food processor to help save you some spoons!)

What are your plans today?

Have you ever got lost in an activity or task so much so, that you don’t know how much time has passed?

When your living with a brain injury, many people can experience time agnosia or time blindness. This is typically due to an impairment involving the temporal area of the brain where individuals are unable to estimate short time intervals and believe long periods of time to be much shorter than they are.

Many of our clients struggle to have a natural feeling for the passage of time and if you think about it, a sense of time passing is required for all activities of daily living. This weakened relationship with time can lead to many challenges for clients to complete their activities of daily living.

⌚Think of all the instances in your day where time plays a role…

👉Time plays a role in moving the laundry to the dryer, cooking your meals, doing homework, amongst many other tasks.

👆 This is why Invisible-Care provides alerts and prompts as you move through the task and will even do a call or video chat to check and make sure you did “flip that laundry”.

We are supporting our clients in task initiation, task breakdown and accountability in task completion!
