It's time to FINALLY announce!

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

SO excited to be sharing this with everyone on this very special day for Moms. It has been 1 year since the inception of the "Strong as a Mother" program and it's been a privilege to have the opportunity to work with so many inspiring and amazing Moms!

The support, laughs and workout sessions have been one of the many highlights on this journey of motherhood! Thank you so much and I can't wait to share another year with everyone :)

Great article and super excited to start reading this book!

Here are some great points from the article,

- Lead by example, sit with your kids at the dinner table so they can observe you eating nutritious food enthusiastically.

- Don't fall into the trap of your child being a picky eater, they will grow out of the phase.

- Don't give up! Continue offering your kids a variety of foods, trusting that their palates will evolve.

- It can take a minimum of 15 exposures before children appreciate and like a certain food.

- Encourage sports teams and schools to have healthy snack options instead of sports drinks and sugary snacks/candy.

I understand how challenging this can be but it's SO important to be taking action on this for ourselves and our children!

This past weekend we celebrated Cameron's 1st Birthday!!

We made homemade chocolate zucchini (from our garden) cupcakes with a little cream cheese icing.

The results...everyone loved them!

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients
2 squares unsweetened chocolate (melted)
3 eggs
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 cup coconut oil
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups grated zucchini

Directions

1. Preheat over to 350 degrees
2. In a large bowl, beat eggs with sugar for about 10 minutes or until thickened and pale. Blend oil and let cool.
3. In a small bowl stir together four, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir flour mixture into egg mixture until just blended.
4. Stir in zucchini.
5. Using an ice cream scoop spoon batter into 24 paper-lined or greased muffins cups, filling the cups 2/3 full.
6. Bake for 20 minutes or until fork or toothpick in a cupcake's center comes out clean.
7. Let cool on rack for 10 minutes.

The other day I got an email from a Mom in my "Strong as a Mother' program. She had a sleepless night and needed a quick workout to help boost her energy and mood. After the workout she said she felt AMAZING!! It was only 15 minutes but it was what she needed that day.

Here's what she did:

BW or Weighted Lunges - 10 reps/side
BW or Weighted Glute Bridges 10 reps
Forward to Reverse Bear Crawls 5/direction
3-4 sets

Today she was back in class and sweat out another great workout! Some days are more challenging than others - we all have them! But keeping positive habits for yourself like daily movement is SO important!

Exercise during pregnancy is SO important for Mom and Baby! Recent research is adding to the growing evidence that,

"physical activity during pregnancy can strengthen not just the mother but also her unborn children and might influence how well and willingly those children later move on their own".

Great read about how motor skill development is effected in children and adolescents who spend most of their time barefoot!

A new study reveals children who are habitually barefoot show significantly different motor skills between the ages of 6-10 than those who are habitually shod. Researchers report those who are habitually barefoot have better balance and jumping skills.
