Birthstone Doula Being a certified Postnatal Doula is not just my passion, it is my calling, my path, my life! I am here when you need me; day or night!

I look forward to connecting with families and discussing how best to support their individual wants & needs. Holding space for families as they journey through a common space - Parenthood.....
As a Postpartum Doula, I enjoy bringing some peace and harmony to a new family! Giving everyone a bit of space to breath, regroup and support where needed most. Nights are my most popular service where everyone can sleep while knowing their baby is being well cared for and wake up to a tidy home too. Breast/Chest feeding is my passion, and as a Breastfeeding Educator I have been supporting families for over 10 years. There is no one size fits all for any of the services I provide. Whatever your family needs to begin to thrive in your new dynamic and not just survive...those are the services I provide and I am passionate about! I design services to meet your individual needs! Packages can encompass all or just a few of the following: baby care (day and night), light housekeeping, light meal prep, sibling care, sharing of experiences and knowledge....and these are just to name a few. This page highlights my services as a Postpartum Doula, who I am and why I have designed my life with this career choice and of course and the most frequently asked questions by Moms of newborns. My "village" of support was small, so by creating this page, I hope to help families create a "village" for themselves that will carry them along their own beautiful journey through parenthood!

“No” is a complete sentence to any question - it stands on its own and conveys a complete thought. Next time you feel the need to explain yourself and then start speaking only to hear a voice in your head that says “why am I still talking - why am I explaining myself” Just stop - take a breath and stop! Our actions with our family need no explanation to someone else nor do they need validation. We call the shots, we make and liive with our choices…end of story💪🎤

What is it that you actually want & need for your family?

No one who’s written a book is sitting beside you living your life. There is no friend or family member who has walked in your shoes every single moment since you became a parent. In your heart you know what you want, you know what you need for both you and your baby (child). Feeling pressured or overwhelmed by choices, devices and advices of others just means it’s time to take a break, listen to what your heart and mind are telling you (and yes, it may take time for them to agree) and then dig deep to find the strength to move forward into that space.

Wishing you a day of reflection, strength and confidence.

When the needs of my full time overnight client changed and they asked me to start days shifts, of course I said “Yes”.

I look forward to supporting families on overnights again but for now these day shifts are right where I need to be.

I started volunteering with Halton BFC back in 2008. It was natural for me to continue with this free over-the-phone service with Halton after I trained and became a Postpartum Doula in 2016. I am able to connect and support so many more families allowing me to stay in tune of how “life-with-baby” continues to change in my community.

🌻 Meet Erica! 🌻

"I enjoy volunteering because I know when families welcome a new baby into their life there can be many emotions and new questions each day…I am here so no family ever has to say, “I had no one who could help me!"

Erica knows breastfeeding support starts before baby comes home and is passionate about connecting with families to talk about what baby’s birth will mean for them.

She knows, “babies don’t take weekends or holidays off,” and supports families on weekends too!

Some of the most difficult times after bringing your baby home may be during the night - when darkness falls and everyone around gets cozy and ready for a good night’s sleep….except for new parents who are gearing up for the night and wondering “Will I get any sleep tonight?”, “Will she stop crying at some point and just peacefully rest in my arms?”, “Will he ever sleep in his own space rather than in my arms?” NOTE: main reason why night shifts are my favourite time to be with new parents in their home offering support in the wee hours of the night and morning!!💖
Babies have a completely different circadian rhythm and take time to mature into days and nights but the answer to these questions is a resounding “Yes!!” So, while you are waiting for those hours of sleep, know that the sunshine will be shining a little bit longer into the evening each and every day as we head into spring and summer, which means lots of sunshine, more backyard moments, more outside fair weather days and even in the cover of darkness, an open window with a warm breeze and birds chirping before dawn can make a world of difference in a sleepless night!!!!

Keep getting fresh air outside with your babes! As the leaves begin to change and weather starts to get cooler here in Ontario, there are very few reasons to feel it is "too cold" to take baby outside. With so many wardrobe options and baby carrying methods, often it is more the bundling them (and ourselves) up that keep us inside. So, plan ahead, get organized and get outside and enjoy the fall weather!
