May we never forget

This Remembrance Day, we honour and remember all veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Cpl. Dennis Mickelberry served with 1 Service Battalion Calgary from 1970 to 1977, including six months in Egypt on a peacekeeping deployment with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Now 78, he lives at Calgary’s Carewest Colonel Belcher Centre, where he shares stories of service and remembrance with visiting students.

“When kids remember and say ‘Thank you,’ it makes me feel good,” says Mickelberry. “They care, and that’s a good sign.”

Tinnitus can feel louder when the brain’s focus and stress levels are off balance, especially for people with OCD or high anxiety.

That’s because stress and repetitive thought patterns can make your brain “tune in” to sounds it normally filters out.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team offers evidence-based care for OCD, anxiety, and tinnitus, and in some cases may recommend MeRT therapy, a non-invasive, personalized approach being studied for its potential to support brain communication.

💡 You’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone.

That constant ringing, buzzing, or humming in your ears?
It’s called tinnitus, and it’s often linked to how the brain processes sound and stress.

When the brain’s focus or sensory filters become overactive, everyday noises (or even silence) can feel amplified.
Stress, anxiety, and fatigue can make it worse, creating a loop that’s hard to break.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team helps patients understand the connection between tinnitus, stress, and brain health.
In some cases, advanced, non-invasive options such as MeRT therapy may be considered to support healthy brain communication.

💡 You’re not imagining it, and you don’t have to manage it alone.

Burnout doesn’t always feel like stress, sometimes it’s constant fatigue, brain fog, or emotional numbness that doesn’t go away, even after rest.

If you’ve tried therapy, medication, or lifestyle changes and still feel stuck, it may be time to explore how your brain is functioning underneath it all.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team offers evidence-based care for stress and burnout, and in some cases, may recommend advanced, non-invasive therapies such as MeRT to support healthy brain communication when traditional care hasn’t been enough.

💡 You’re not alone, and recovery is possible.

Burnout can sneak up quietly, showing up as fatigue, irritability, or even emotional numbness.
It’s your brain’s way of saying it’s had enough stimulation for too long.

If you’re finding it harder to focus, rest, or feel motivated, it might be time to slow down and reset.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team helps patients understand how chronic stress affects the brain, and find practical, evidence-based ways to recover balance and focus.

💙 Remember: taking care of your mind isn’t a luxury; it’s essential.

🧠 The Brain–Metabolism Connection

Your brain and body are always in conversation.
When stress, sleep, or mood are out of balance, your metabolism often feels it too.

✨ Stress can trigger hormones that increase cravings.
😴 Poor sleep can slow metabolism and affect appetite.
🙂 Low mood can lead to emotional eating or low motivation.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led weight management program looks beyond diet, using diagnostic testing, medical guidance, and brain-based care to help you understand why these patterns happen and how to bring them back into balance.

🥑 Feed your brain, it’s always working for you.
The brain uses about 20% of the body’s energy, even when you’re resting. What you eat every day helps keep your mind clear, focused, and balanced.

Here are a few foods that support brain health:
🐟 Fatty fish for omega-3s
🥬 Leafy greens for vitamins and antioxidants
🥜 Nuts and seeds for healthy fats
🍓 Berries for natural protection
💧 Water to stay hydrated and sharp

💡 Remember: caring for your mind is just as important as caring for your body.

🧠 Concussion Recovery: Rebuild Balance and Clarity
Even mild concussions can leave ongoing effects, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, mood changes, or sleep issues.
These symptoms are signs that your brain is still healing, and gentle, guided care can make a difference.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team offers advanced, non-invasive options such as MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy), a personalized approach that uses EEG-based brain mapping to understand your unique brain activity.

💡By identifying areas that are under- or overactive, MeRT aims to support the brain’s natural rhythm, which may help support clarity, focus, and balanced function

Ever notice your tinnitus feels louder when you’re stressed?
That’s because stress heightens the brain’s focus, it tunes in to every sound, even the ones you’d rather not hear.

When this cycle continues, tinnitus and stress can feed each other, making it harder to find calm.
Understanding how the brain and stress interact is the first step toward managing both.

At Neuromed Clinic, our psychiatrist-led team offers compassionate, evidence-based care.
Alongside standard treatments, we provide MeRT therapy, a personalized, non-invasive approach that uses brain mapping to support healthier communication within the brain.

rTMS Treatments for Depression and Anxiety

Who is Neuromed Clinic?

Having received specialist training at both Harvard University and Duke University, in addition to manufacture training on our chosen device (MagVenture MagProTM), Neuromed Clinic was established as Edmonton’s (Alberta, Canada) first TMS service in 2017.

What is TMS?

(r)TMS is (repetitive) Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation. It's mostly used for treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, however there are many other conditions which TMS could also help. TMS is also non-invasive, pain free and side-effect free.
