This weeks meet the staff Monday is:

Cathy Christie
Physiotherapist
BMR.PT., Vestibular Physiotherapist, Certified in Acupuncture
* Cathy’s a graduate of the U of M in 1978
* Initially she had a stint as a hospital physiotherapist, but since 1983 DCP has been her home.
* With a goal to help everyone that comes under her care Cathy set off pursuing extensive post-grad training in a variety of approaches including manual therapy, exercise, soft tissue, acupuncture BUT lately she’s been very involved with dizziness and vertigo.
* She’s spent many years volunteering on countless boards and organizations and the profession is indebted to her for that.
* Because exercise, fitness and sports (golf, curling, racquet sports, volleyball, running, dance) are important in her own life she’s experienced many of the injuries and ailments her patients come to her with first hand, although she refuses to experience each and every one.
* She’s now beginning to more intimately understand the ageing process.
* Now that she’s not involved with the ownership of the business she spends time helping one of the new owners with childcare and is jumping into some new hobbies and spending more time with friends, since her hubby suddenly passed.

This weeks meet the staff Monday is:
Oksana Pankova
Physiotherapist
Orthopeadic and Scoliosis/Schroth Physiotherapist
MPT
* After having her first career at New Flyer, Oksana decided to chase her dreams, pursued physiotherapy and graduated from U of M with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
* It was her natural interest in anatomy, movement and the body’s ability to rehabilitate that made physiotherapy her match.
* After having a physiotherapy placement at DCP, it seemed like a good match for a career choice.
* She also has a background in linguistics, which means she’s a keen listener, which her patients appreciate.  Beyond listening, her practice style tries to find a perfect balance between manual therapy, exercise and education.
* Outside of the clinic she enjoys yoga, cycling, slacklining, paddleboarding and learning foreign languages.
* Speaking of which she offers physiotherapy in English and Russian.

We thought it was about time you meet the team at Doug Christie Physiotherapy!

Trevor Christie
Physiotherapist / Co-Owner
BMR.PT., MClSc (manipulative therapy), FCAMPT, Certified in Dry Needling and Acupuncture.
* A graduate of Physiotherapy at the U of M in 2007 and Western University in 2014, Trevor’s decided he’s well credentialed and won’t be enrolling in any more university.
* Trevor’s practice revolves around manual therapy (hands on work) that includes joint/bone manipulation/mobilization as well as soft tissue work (myofascial) such as massage, cupping and dry needling.  If you want someone who spends time manually (hands on) treating you, he’s your guy.
* Professionally Trevor’s still interested in learning and taking weekend type courses. He also spends a lot of time mentoring new grads and experienced physios as they move along the system he credentialed in.
* He has also spent many years as co-chair of the private practice division of the Manitoba Physiotherapy association where amongst other things led negotiations with WCB and MPI.
* Outside of work Trevor has a wife Hilary and 3 kids (Quinn, Reed and Camryn). Although increasingly rare, Trevor likes to golf, fish, play hockey and socialize, sometimes with a cold beverage.
