🎗 have to deal with many of their treatment and it's easy to get information overload trying to manage them. RCN project coordinator Dana Morretto helped create these easy one-page 📑 tip sheets on 15 common symptoms to help patients manage them at home and know when to call their healthcare team. We are excited to share the news that our partners at McGill Oncology are launching a new Graduate Diploma in Oncology! It's open to a wide range of allied health professionals as well as clinicians. ⏰Deadline for applications: June 15 2020.

Nos partenaires du département d'oncologie à McGIll lancent un nouveau diplôme d'études supérieures en oncologie, ouvert aux cliniciens et à un large éventail de professionnels paramédicaux! ⏰Date limite pour postuler : 15 juin 2020.

Diploma program to be offered for the first time Fall 2020, open to students from any disciplines with an interest in oncology.

Dr. Eduardo Franco, Chair of McGill Oncology explains “We were the first oncology department in Canada, and, while we have had residency training programs, we have offered no graduate program and no courses. The time had come to remedy this.”

The new program is designed to appeal to students from a diverse number of disciplines. It is expected that the subject matter covered will be both relevant and of interest to nurses, physicians, statisticians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, managers and other health professionals, among others. In addition to instruction on substantive knowledge about cancer biology, prevention, and treatment, students will be exposed to essential skillsets in research methodology, scholarly publishing, statistical methods and ethics.

⭐️ Our goal is to get clinicians the support they need -- fast. That’s why the RCN’s PMO manager and IT specialist, Silvana Loffredo staffs a dedicated ☎️ tech support hotline just for oncology teams, to troubleshoot problems they have using Zoom TeleHealth for with patients.

⭐️ Notre objectif est de fournir rapidement aux cliniciens le soutien dont ils ont besoin. C’est pourquoi Silvana Loffredo, gestionnaire du bureau de gestion de projets et spécialiste des TI du RCR, gère une ☎️ ligne téléphonique dédiée uniquement aux équipes en oncologie, afin de résoudre les problèmes rencontrés avec Zoom TeleSanté pour les rendez-vous virtuels avec les patients.

🌈RCN project coordinator Ashley Kushneryk is supporting the psycho-oncology team at St. Mary’s Hospital by completing symptom management screening with patients who aren’t coming in to the clinic and need additional assessment to support their mental health during these stressful times. 🤝

🌈La coordonnatrice de projet du RCR, Ashley Kushneryk, soutient l'équipe de psycho-oncologie du Centre Hospitalier de St. Mary. Elle effectue un dépistage des symptômes avec des patients qui ne passeront pas à la clinique mais qui ont besoin d'une évaluation supplémentaire pour soutenir leur santé mentale en cette période stressante.

Nurses play a pivotal in oncology care, and never more so than during . In addition to helping JGH patients manage their symptoms from home on the RCN’s Urgent Care Hotline, nurse Jade Marcotte is now helping keep patients safe by calling before their appointment and offering much needed education and support.

Les infirmières jouent un rôle central dans les soins en oncologie, et jamais autant que pendant la crise de . En plus d’aider les patients de l’HGJ à gérer leurs symptômes de la maison grâce à la ligne téléphone de soins urgents du RCR, l’infirmière Jade Marcotte aide maintenant à assurer la sécurité des patients en les appelant avant leur rendez-vous et en leur offrant de l’éducation ciblée et un soutien indispensable.

Dr. Friedmann’s (top right) medical oncology clinic is 1 of 3 we’re supporting at the JGH right now. Another 4 will be added soon!
