Watching my boys interact with their grandmother made me realize their need for better communication and listening skills, so I thought it might be time to refresh some at-home strategies. Here’s some background on whole body listening and a list of activities to try at home!

All the respect to the mom’s out there!

This week is all about Moms!

We are witness every day to the great lengths Moms go to support their children.
Sometimes it feels lonely and unmanageable being a special needs parent... and sometimes it makes you feel like a SuperHero when you go the extra length to give your child everything they deserve.

We recently had a Mom comment how surprised she was to see the happiness on her child’s face when she came to pick her up from therapy. Mom thought her daughter did not miss her while she was away. I was surprised to hear this because we see it every day. The quick glances towards the door, the pacing as time progresses, the way a child orients to the door when they hear their parents voice, and the little light that goes on in their eyes.
Maybe the “missing” looks different- but you are missed when they are not with you.
Moms are SuperHeroes

When kids show delays in developing skills, Occupational Therapists are often the first called in to evaluate symptoms and offer solutions.
