SAVE THIS FOR A MINDSET SHIFT!
I used to be told that I was "too sensitive" and for the longest time I believed that that was my ultimate flaw.
Feeling feelings, that is.
And I ended up not wanting to feel, feeling ashamed of feeling, and ultimately binge eating to avoid said feelings.
But the thing is.. that MY FEELINGS ARE MY ULTIMATE SUPERPOWER.
And though it took me some time to shift that perception, bringing awareness to my feelings and allowing them to be expressed was the first step.
Which mindset shift resonates with you most? Let me know in the comments!

SWIPE FOR MY WHY š
Iām often asked why I started and the truth is nutrition changed my life.
Nutrition is something I hold very close to my heart. Itās what lights me up when I talk about it, itās what I read about in my spare time, itās what I do on a daily basis. Nutrition isnāt just my career choice, itās my life. But my passion for nutrition began long before I enrolled in nutrition school.
Nutrition literally changed my life. In my late twenties as a university graduate, it wasnāt that I didnāt understand that bingeing on junk food and overeating āhealthyā meals wasnāt in my best interest. It was the practical application that I struggled with the most. How does one ādietā and lose weight but not starve themselves and constantly feel restricted.
When I realized I was approaching the diet thing from the wrong mindset everything shifted. Iāll be honest, during my 130-pound weight loss I was extremely restrictive. But what I did right was focus on whole foods and learned which foods made me feel really good and which foods left me feeling lethargic, bloated or physically ill. What I could see clearly after removing so many processed foods was that many of my "symptoms" (that I just thought were normal) could be improved with a few simple dietary changes, was the beginning of my career.
I didnāt reinvent the wheel I simply learned to listen to my body. When family, friends and coworkers began to notice and ask me for help on their diet I knew that nutrition was my calling.

Are you taking care of yourself?
I've been asked this question countless times in my life... and I always responded with a begrudgingly yes, of course, I am.
But I never really took the time to break down what it means to take care of myself. Like, sure I had the basic necessities of food, water, shelter. But is that what self-care really means?
I now understand that self-care is the essence of taking mindful time to pay attention to you that ensures that you are being cared for by you. Self-care is really any activity that you do deliberately to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health.
Which self care practice will you choose today? Let me know in the comments below ā£

There is often familiarity among my clients, struggling with similar issues and seeking like-minded goals.
The conversation that I seem to be having on repeat with clients right now (during a global pandemic) is...
"I work from home and when I need a break from work I find myself in the kitchen and snacking."

Itās no secret that going from hating your body to loving your body doesnāt happen overnight.
You may have spent years, decades or your entire life battling with your body and beating it up every chance youāve got.
So it's no wonder that itās going to take some time and deliberate effort to shift your mentality to one of love.

THERAPY VS COACHING - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
If you've considered hiring a coach, you might be wondering this very question.
Here are 3 ways that coaching is different than therapy:
1. Future leading. Itās my job as a wellness coach is to ask you impactful questions and serve as a sounding board to guide you towards your own inner resources. You already have all the answers within (even if you donāt see it yet!).
2. Action-focused. As a coach I help you find the right next step for you and create an action based plan to get you closer to your goals.
3. Accountability. Often I simply refer to myself as an Accountability Coach because it is probably the number 1 reason clients continue with sessions after a program is complete.
I share this so that when you hire your next coach, you're clear on what the dynamic will be like.
Comment below if you're thinking of hiring a coach... what are your big hesitations?

IF IāM HONESTā¦
I was feeling a little burnt out at the beginning of summer.
So, I took a step back and have been focusing on the self-care that I preach.
For me self-care looks like:
* Going to bed early
* Breaks from social media
* Quality-time with Nathan
* Adventures in fresh (and sometimes smokey) mountain air
* Camp fires with family & friends
* Laying on a paddle board and sun bathing
* Picking fresh vegetables from our little garden
* Meditating & Journaling before my partner wakes
The truth is self-care is really any activity that you do deliberately to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health.
Whatās your form of self-care? Let me know in the comments š

A born-and-raised farm girl with nothing more than a passion and a dream to help others find freedom from food, as an Emotional Eating Coach.
Using food as comfort has been my fallback my entire life and I have struggled with obesity because of an unhealthy relationship with food. When I graduated university with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 2010, my weight had climbed to 295 pounds. The day I stepped on the scale and saw that number staring back at me was a turning point in my life. It was at that moment that I vowed I would never reach 300 pounds. With deprivation and binge eating being the vicious cycle of my life, I still struggled with my weight three-years later. In 2013, I developed the tools to help me get out of my vicious cycle and finally gain my health back. For one, after following an elimination diet, I realized I have a gluten intolerance and after finally cutting grains out of my diet and following a Paleo and ketogenic approach the rest of the weight came off easily. I also broke-up with bingeing. I no longer turned to food for comfort and found other healthy modalities that helped me deal with my severe depression.
In the end, my weight loss sparked my two passions: nutrition and running. I wanted to learn more about nutrition and gaining my health back was just the beginning. Enter the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I am a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant and a Precision Nutrition Level One Coach. Through my formal education and experience, I believe nutrient-dense foods are the key to optimal health. Nurturing the body starts with whole food. But I also believe itās not about the food. How we view food and our relationships towards food is the bigger issue. The harder issue, the issue that people shy away. Keeping the weight off for 5 years isnāt because nutrition and running became my passions, but because I learned to have a healthy relationship with food. I broke-up with bingeing.
It means the world to me that youāre here & ready for the next steps.
