It’s World Doula Week! 🌿🌿

This week, we celebrate all doulas around the globe! The steady hands, calm voices, fierce advocates, and compassionate witnesses to one of life’s most powerful moments.

At Doula School, we are endlessly inspired by our students and the more than 7,000 alumni around the world who are supporting birthing people and families with skill, care, and deep respect. From first-time students just beginning their journey, to experienced doulas serving their communities every day, this work matters because you do.

Doulas show up in quiet rooms, long nights, and tender transitions. You hold space. You protect choice. You remind people of their strength.

To our global community: thank you for choosing this work, for continuing to learn, and for helping to create better birth and postpartum experiences everywhere.

Happy World Doula Week, we’re so proud to be part of your journey.

“Hope Air helps bridge the gap in access to healthcare for people who live in rural or remote areas. No one should have to choose between their health and their finances, and Hope Air makes sure families can get the care they need, especially children who deserve every chance at a healthy future.”

At just two years old, Anthony from Spirit River, AB was diagnosed with enamel hypoplasia, causing rapid tooth decay despite proper care. His treatment required dental surgery under general anesthesia but the care he needed wasn’t available close to home. His family was faced with traveling more than 500 km to Edmonton, adding financial strain and emotional stress to an already overwhelming situation.

With support from Hope Air, that burden was lifted. By covering travel, Hope Air made it possible for Anthony’s family to focus on his surgery and recovery, rather than the cost and logistics of getting there. For families in rural communities, where distance can delay or prevent access to care, this support is critical. In Anthony’s case, it meant receiving timely, essential treatment and giving his family peace of mind during a difficult time.

At 77, Paulette from Stratford, PEI never expected a cancer diagnosis would require her to travel more than 1,700 kilometres for care.

Diagnosed with choroidal melanoma, she needed treatment at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, along with ongoing follow-ups in Toronto and regular visits to her oncologist in Halifax. The cost and complexity of travelling outside her province felt overwhelming and out of reach.

After being referred to Hope Air, everything changed. With flights arranged through, Paulette was able to access the care she needed without the financial burden.

Her journey continues, with regular travel to Halifax and future trips to Toronto still ahead.

Hope Air helps Canadians like Paulette reach life-saving medical care, no matter the distance. Learn more at hopeair.ca

My spouse lived for years with a progressive neurodegenerative illness (Parkinson’s Disease). She was clear about how she wanted her…

I love to volunteer & airports are best place to hangout!!! I LOVE AIRPORTS (depends where!)

Instead of rushing home, a woman flying from Naples turned an overbooked flight into an opportunity. Each time the airline asked for volunteers, she gave up her seat, choosing to stay longer while collecting compensation.

Over three days, she earned $3,550 in travel credits, along with free hotel stays and meals. What looked like a delay became a smart trade-off—extra time in Italy in exchange for future travel savings.
