Sometimes there is some beautiful insight, or questions come from a genuinely curious place and it is an opportunity for a healthy discussion and education... but if you don't have the capacity or it's not respectful - you know what to do.

Do you have a child who has a unique way of communicating?

Maybe echolalia, synthesia, telepathy, through art or movement?

These are common gifts in Neurodiverse children - yes, gifts.

I appreciate it is not always easy when we or our children experience the world differently, but when we are able to see it as a gift, we can see beyond the limited vocabulary that English offers.

We see their expression of life in the fullest - and sometimes this means learning a new language and how to hear differently.

There is no one right way to communicate.

This may not look like much, but understanding rhythm is an important process our children need to:

🩵 Balance their nervous system
🩵 Reading, fine & gross motor development
🩵 Speech-language development (hence pat-a-cake etc)

And of course it's just fun - this one is a throw back to a few years ago 😍 when we were gifted our Balmy Drum, a sound healing tool I use in my children's yoga classes and at home for the girls to soothe themselves.

🩵 This is common with ND children - it's a sign of extreme distress, and one that is not really talked about... but we need to.

It's a fight response often turned inwards, when we consider the 4F's - fight, flight, fawn, freeze.

If you need more support please leave a comment or DM me - I will connect you with one of the amazing professionals I collab with and resources, so you can navigate this safely.

In addressing it early, we can give our children the tools and try to mitigate further challenges as they grow.
