Fertility goals have to include the other half of the equation - men - but they’re often overlooked.
Women tend to carry most of the pressure, and in many cases, their partners aren’t even considered as part of the fertility conversation.
Women are told to work on their hormones, tighten up their diet and eat whole foods, reduce their stress levels, work on their sleep quality, reduce toxin exposures, take prenatal vitamins and on and on 🙇🏻♀️
Yet the research is clear: men’s health meaningfully impacts pregnancy outcomes, miscarriage risk, and the long-term cognitive and physical health of their children.
Very minimal paternal alcohol intake (a drink a week) in the 3 months prior to conception can impact behaviours in their offspring 🍺 causing higher rates of depression, anxiety, difficulties following rules and having sleep challenges, with these effects worsening in line with the amount alcohol intake and even being linked to ADHD and autism.
High homocysteine as a marker of chronic inflammation, methylation issues and B vitamin deficiencies can impact the health of sperm, like sperm motility and morphology, which we know increases the rates of miscarriage and pregnancy loss in women.
It’s time to bring men into the discussion, so the responsibility doesn’t fall solely on women.

I’ll eventually be sharing the fertility protocols I use with my clients for both men and women in my weekly education group - sign-up for the price of a coffee a week - link in bio! ☕
