taking in my surroundings and remembering that I’m part of this world is hard when I’m anxious, but if I can tune into my senses often the swirling thoughts in my head will stop. at least long enough for me to catch my breath,

Is working with a therapist financially out of reach for you?

I offer low-cost sessions so you can access support even in difficult financial times. No questions asked, just let me know you’re looking for this option when you reach out.

Caring for our collective mental health should be an essential service and I’ll always fight for that, but as it stands most of us have to go out of pocket for therapy. Having been a student and low-income most of my adult life, I know how it feels to need support and not be able to afford quality care.

I’m also putting together self-guided resources and group offerings for the new year, which I’ve found to be a good way to get support when 1:1 sessions are out of my budget. Let me know if there’s something you’d like to see 🫶🏼

What would it look like to build rest into your week? 🌺 This Monday morning, as you look to the week ahead, is there one action you can take to help yourself get the rest you need?

Free up a bit of time — maybe by sharing some of the chores on your list with other members of your household, or deciding that a work project is done before it’s perfect — and then use that time to decompress.

Give yourself permission to nap, go for an aimless walk, or sit and daydream for a while. 🍃

Even in a busy week, ask yourself what’s possible in terms of rest … small moments of taking it easy can make all the difference.

Fjaka is a state of being where we let go of doing and allow ourselves to experience the moment & the world around us. If stillness is uncomfortable, find your own way to access fjaka (one of my favourites is sitting alone at a coffee shop, leaving my phone at home and just watching the world go by).

It can happen at any moment and last any length of time - passing all afternoon in fjaka is a beautiful thing when time is on your side, but 5 mins in this daydreamy state can also bring renewed presence to your day.
