This week (November 16-23) marks **Restorative Justice Week** in Canada, a time to reflect on how restorative justice can help heal harm, deepen accountability, and strengthen community.
Restorative justice shifts the focus from punishment to repairing harm by bringing victims, offenders, their families, and their communities together to communicate, understand, and rebuild. Creating space for the voices of those most impacted by crime and allowing them the space to heal has powerful outcomes.
This year, the National Restorative Justice Symposium (Nov 17–18, 2025) celebrated *“Progress & Possibility”* , bringing together practitioners, community members, academics, and leaders to imagine how restorative justice can shape the future.
Want to get involved? Here are a few ideas:
✅Invite community leaders, spiritual or Indigenous voices, or policy makers to speak on the value of restorative practices.
✅Work with your city council to proclaim Restorative Justice Week locally.
✅Partner with your library to host storytelling events or set up resource displays.
✅Volunteer with, or donate to, a Canadian charity that supports restorative justice work.
✅Organize a book or movie club with restorative justice–themed works, followed by a discussion to educate others.
