For the busy mom, the business owner, or the woman juggling a 9-to-5, that "magic number" often feels like just another to-do list item that drains your body.

We’ve been told that if we don't hit 10k, we’ve "failed" for the day. BUT... research shows the biggest jump in health and longevity actually happens between 7,000 and 8,000 steps. Beyond that, the benefits tend to level off.

Here is the reality: Pushing yourself to hit an arbitrary number when you are already exhausted doesn't make you "disciplined." It spikes your cortisol, drains your energy, and leads to the exact burnout we are trying to avoid.

Walking is a metabolic "cheat code" for body composition and hormone health, but only if it's sustainable (and not depleting you).

Health isn't found on your watch, it’s found in the habits you can actually keep. Stop overcomplicating. Start where you are. Aim for that 7k–8k range and choose consistency over perfection 🫶

Part of being healthy isn’t just what you eat or how you move,
it’s how you protect your energy, your time and your choices.

When I work with women, especially moms, full-time professionals and business owners, so many of our conversations aren’t actually about workouts or nutrition at all.

They’re about boundaries.

Because you can’t expect to feel good in your body…
or have time for yourself…
or show up consistently…
if you say yes to everything and everyone.

I used to be the person who always said yes, even when my energy was gone and it didn’t truly align. And it took me a long time to realize that saying no isn’t "rude"… it’s necessary.

So here’s your reminder:
It’s okay to say no.
It’s okay to choose what works for you.
And it's MORE than okay to set limits.

Boundaries aren’t selfish, they’re how you create balance, health and peace.

And they’re a core pillar of how I coach women to build a life (and routine) that actually supports them, not drains them.

We overcomplicate fitness WAY too much!

And the more complicated your plan is...the less likely you are to stick to it and get those results 👎

Your body (or habits) doesn’t need fancy plans to change... it needs repetition!!!

💡 Muscle growth = strength train & progressively overload.
💡 Fat loss = eat in a small, consistent calorie deficit.
💡 Energy = fuel with enough protein + sleep.
💡 Confidence = showing up for yourself daily.
💡 Better mobility = repeat the same stretches/movements often.
💡 Endurance = build slowly by adding time or distance each week.
💡 Long-term success = consistency > perfection.

Simple doesn't mean easy...but it DOES mean it works.

No...you don't need to "change up" your workout routine or try a different diet...you just need to STAY THE COURSE.

The sooner you stop chasing shortcuts and start mastering the basics, the sooner you’ll see results that actually last.

This isn’t about willpower.
It’s about presence.

Most of the time when we overeat, it’s not because we’re “out of control”...it’s because we’re distracted!!

📱 Scrolling
📺 Watching TV
💬 Talking
🧠 Rushing through meals on autopilot

When that happens, your brain misses the signal from your stomach that says “hey, we’re good.”

So here are a few “weird” things I actually do:

• I put my phone down while I eat
• I sip water between bites to naturally slow things down
• I actually pay attention to how my food tastes (wild, I know 😅)
• I give myself permission to eat slowly instead of inhaling meals

Slowing down helps your body catch up.
Fullness isn’t instant, it takes time for your stomach and brain to communicate.

Mindful eating isn’t about eating less.
It’s about being present enough to notice when you’ve had enough.

No tracking. No rules. Just awareness!

This is what sustainable progress actually looks like!!

Not doing everything at once but building habits in LAYERS.

Too many women try to overhaul their workouts, nutrition, steps, sleep, and stress all at the same time… then blame themselves when it doesn’t stick.

This layered approach is exactly why my busiest clients, moms and business owners, see so much success.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my dear client and friend, Bob.

Bob was one of my very first clients when I started MOVEHAPPY five years ago and from day one he’s been a massive support, not just of my work, but of me as a person. His trust in me to guide his health and fitness over the years is something I will always carry with deep gratitude.

What I loved most about Bob was his wisdom and his positivity. No matter how tough his circumstances, he leaned into meditation, peace, and always looked for the bright side of every moment. He was the most consistent human I’ve ever met with meditation (something he inspired me to take up) and with his fitness, truly showing up for it daily, year after year, and most importantly, showing up for himself.

Bob also loved being out in nature. He was known for his walks, his photography, and of course, stopping to smell the flowers along the way. That was Bob, always slowing down to notice the beauty around him.

He showed up to almost every single class I taught for years. If he wasn’t there, I’d be messaging him right away to check in because his presence was such a constant. Weekly check ins, monthly one-on-ones and countless classes together...every single time, he was a breath of fresh air. Determined, strong, and always willing to keep improving.

Bob wasn’t just a client, he was a fighter, a bright light, and a huge part of our community. His consistency, his strength, and his kindness will never be forgotten.

We will miss him dearly, but I know he is at peace now and I can just imagine him hitting the weights, flowing through yoga, and soaking up nature in the sky.

💗 Rest easy, Bob. You’ll always be remembered. Miss you tons.

Can we talk about how hard we are on ourselves sometimes?

One missed workout = “I’m failing.”
One weekend of extra snacks = “I blew it.”
One bad mood = “I’m back at square one.”

Truth is… you’re probably doing WAY better than you give yourself credit for.

💪 You’re showing up.
💪 You’re making small changes.
💪 You’re trying again after tough days.

That matters more than perfection ever will.

Progress isn’t about nailing it 100%, it’s about showing up more often than not, and stacking habits that last 🙌

So take a breath. Pat yourself on the back. And keep going, because future you will be so glad you didn’t quit 💗
