The company was born in 1986, as Paris Orthotics Ltd. Started as a one man orthopaedic shoe and foot orthotics shop, by our founder Stephen Paris. He believes in a WHOLEistic approach to client assessment and treatment, “start with the feet, begin from the ground up, but consider the whole-body mechanics in the search for the root cause”. In 2018, we embraced the phrase Paris everyBODY. This notion embodies our mission. It speaks better to the depth and breadth of products and services we offer in an effort to meet the injury, recovery and systemic condition needs of everyone that comes to us for help.
As Stephen once said, we’re honored that “people rely on us to keep them functioning” and we take that responsibility very seriously.
Though Stephen started Paris Orthotics Ltd. in 1986, the journey that lead to the opening of our iconic W4th and Fir location, truly began in 1907. This was the year that his grandfather, Pierre Paris, opened his first shoe business in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Vancouver. Pierre has been compared to Henry Ford as an industry pioneer counterpart. By 1929, he had integrated all aspects of the shoe business under one family owned company. His business included tanning leather, manufacturing shoes & boots, a family shoe store and a Podiatry clinic. During the industrial boom, many BC miners, loggers and telephone pole repair men trusted Paris Boots to protect their feet.
Stephen in the 1980’s, like his grandfather before him in the 1920’s, had a groundbreaking understanding of where he could best direct his services to help the most people. At only 36, he already had over 20 years of experience in the industry and an unparalleled level of knowledge of custom shoe design and biomechanics. As improvements were made in ready-made shoe design, he recognized the growing trend towards custom orthotics that could fit in multiple pairs of shoes.
Paris Orthotics has had the privilege of working with leading sports medicine doctors, innovators in foot & ankle surgery, visionaries in diabetic foot care, and prominent physical therapists throughout the Lower Mainland. We have a lab service division that manufactures custom foot orthotics and related devices for clinicians worldwide. Our Paris everyBODY clinical retail services include custom foot orthotics, sports & orthopedic bracing, myofascial release and rehab offerings, compression therapy, posture supports, performance gait analysis testing, and custom shoe making.
Though we have changed and adapted to meet the needs of our clients, what remains as true today, as it did in 1986, is Stephen’s passionate and curious character, embodied by his signature WHOLEistic approach. To this day, this philosophy is central to our work ethic at Paris everyBODY. Over the years Stephen has taught many employees his methods, but more importantly, he has inspired all of us to care like a Paris. We share Stephen’s commitment to excellence in craftsmanship, customer service and positive patient outcome.
