Do you want to stay constipated forever? 💩

Then follow these 5 steps👇

1️⃣ Don’t eat fiber-rich foods 🥦🚫

Who needs fiber when you can have hard, dry stool that takes forever to pass?

Fiber helps things move along, but skipping it? Perfect for that stuck feeling!

2️⃣ Don’t move your body 🛋️

Why go for a walk when you can sit still and let your digestion slow to a crawl?

Movement = motility, but hey, couch life is comfy, right?

3️⃣ Skip meals 🍴❌

Why fuel your body with consistent energy when you can confuse your gut and slow digestion even more?

Skipping meals = less motility = constipation central.

4️⃣ Only rely on laxatives 💊

Why build good habits when you can just depend on quick fixes that only give you short term relief?

Only relying on laxatives is not a long-term solution for regularity.

5️⃣ Don’t drink water 💧

Who needs hydration? Dry stools and discomfort are in, didn’t you hear?

Water keeps your digestion smooth, but dehydration = the perfect constipation storm.

Yeees, all these sound great! Sign me up!🙋🏻‍♀️

Said no one ever 😂

So what should you do instead?👇

If you’re ready to actually feel better (and NOT backed up), do the OPPOSITE of this list! 🥦🚶‍♀️💧

👉 Eat your fiber. Move your body. Stay hydrated. Eat consistent meals. Skip the laxative reliance.

Your gut will thank you! 💩

So why does Kiwi help with constipation?

Here are a few possible reasons:

🥝 Fibre: This little fruit boasts 2g of fibre per 100g of kiwi

🥝 Water Content: Kiwi is a juicy fruit that may help to hydrate the bowels

🥝 Enzymes: Kiwi contains an enzyme called Actinidin Protease which helps to aid in digestion

🥝Vitamin Content: Kiwi is rich in vitamin C.
This vitamin is known to help support healthy digestion and can have an osmotic effect on your bowels (draws water to your colon)

🚨Probiotic Myths Busted 🚨

Here are 3 common probiotic myths I hear pretty regularly:

“Probiotics will solve your digestive issues”

Although probiotics can be helpful as part of an overall gut health approach, just taking a probiotic will NOT solve your digestive or gut health issues alone.

To solve your digestive issues, you will need to work on supporting your digestive system as a whole.

👉Evaluate your diet

👉Support enzyme production

👉Chew your food properly

👉Support stomach acid levels

👉Reduce stress around meal times

👉Heal underlying gut conditions

👉Promote healthy bowel movements

”Everyone should take a probiotic”

Although probiotics can be helpful for some people, they can be very unhelpful for others.

If you're dealing with digestive issues, it's important to first identify what's happening before adding supplements.

It's also important to note that there are various strains and dosages of probiotics available.

Understanding what will work best for your situation will be the key to getting good results and not wasting your money!

“Higher-dose probiotics are more effective”

The higher the dose will NOT equal better results.

Probiotic strength will depend on your personal needs at different stages of your gut health journey

Probiotics can range from 1 Billion - 200+ Billion CFU which is a pretty big range! The best dosage for you will depend on your symptoms and gut health history.

My best tip when starting a probiotic is to start with a LOW dosage.

If you start a probiotic and it causes bloating or digestive upset, this could be a sign you took a dose which was too high.

It's best to ease your gut in and increase dosages gradually.

Having a healthy gut can change your life... seriously!

I'm not only talking from personal experience but from clinical experience as well.

When you improve your gut health, so many changes.

a healthy gut can:

✨Boost immunity (your gut bacteria play a major role in supporting your immune system)

✨Clear your skin (gut skin axis)

✨Improve mood, memory, and mental health (gut-brain axis)

✨Eliminate digestive issues (bloating, indigestion and irregularity)

✨Reduce food cravings

✨Increase energy and improve fatigue

✨Lower stress levels

✨Improve sleep quality

✨Improve hormone function

✨Reduce PMS

the list goes on!

If you're considering working on improving your gut health, well this is your sign to DO IT!

Trust me, a healthy gut with change your health and change your life.

Have you started working on your gut health yet?

Raise your hand if......

You've ever started eating a food because it's touted as the new superfood

Raise your hand if you have ever stopped eating a food because it's been condemned by the media or an expert

🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

Hey, don’t get me wrong, trying new foods to enrich your health is great.

Removing certain foods can also be helpful in improving symptoms

BUT

Let me be clear.... There is no ONE food that will change your health. Especially your gut health!

Eliminating bananas because of the sugar or ditching black beans because of lectins won't improve your health.

Adding açai to your smoothie or goji berries to your oatmeal won't magically improve all your symptoms.

It's never about ONE thing

Improving gut health and eliminating symptoms will always be based on ALL the collective food choices you make on a daily basis.

Hey I'm not going to stand here and say I've never bought into food fads (because I have, many times!)

but as a nutritionist, I also know why buying into the “one” food mentality is not the best idea for healing and optimal health

Here are just a few reasons why I try to avoid adding or eliminating "one" food or food group:

👉 It can cause food confusion, fear and anxiety

👉 It can slow your gut healing journey (especially when you’re limiting foods)

👉 It can bring disappointment when you don't get the expected results

👉 It can be a waste of money

👉 It can prevent you from accessing more nutritious food options

So instead of focusing on the "one food approach, shift your focus to the bigger picture.

Assess all the food you're eating (and could be eating) then map out a nutrition strategy that suits your specific needs.

Avoid food fads and follow science backed food facts

This will help you avoid confusion, save money and get the best result for your gut health goals.

Do you have digestive issues? Have you tried using ginger?

Ginger is one of my favourite things to use in clinical practice for IBS and digestive issues.

This little root packs a powerful punch when it comes to supporting digestion and soothing GI inflammation.

Ginger is also very versatile and can be taken in various ways:

👉 Culinary (add it to your favourite dish or in a sauce/ dressing)

👉 Tea ( bags or grated fresh in hot water)

👉 Tinctures

👉 Capsules

What’s your favourite way of taking ginger? 👇
