I haven't worked out in a week & I don't feel bad (which honestly is a whole different kind of progress that i'm very proud of). In the event you're also exhausted, overwhelmed or just super busy, it's okay to rest.

Also, pregnant & postpartum mamas, don't forget to take care of your pelvic floor! Had another appointment this week, and I always find them so helpful. They are super helpful for preparing for birth, making a full recovery after and dealing with leaks, tears, painful s*x and all that fun stuff 😬 that is incredibly important to address.

Have you ever seen a pelvic floor physiotherapist?

A couple years ago I slid into the DMs of after she dropped a lot of knowledge I was unaware of 🤯. This led to a bunch of online sessions with her during the pandemic 🙌🏽! So when I got pregnant, doing Aliya's "Before Birth" online class was a no brainer. I learned so much & truly felt prepared when the time came.

If you're currently pregnant, check out her workshop series. She's offering a 6-week course, that I did last year, and highly recommend 👌🏽. Also, Aliya is a super lovely human being who always makes me feel super comfy asking questions and talking about things related to my pelvic health 🫶🏽.

I might be a nutrition coach, but like many of you, I struggle with protein. Swipe ➡️. Being a new mom means my meals are a lot more chaotic. Between breastfeeding, a bigger appetite and having some major cravings, protein is super impt.

Eating sufficient protein helps with recovery from my workouts, keeping me full longer, reducing my cravings and helps me make better food choices overall.

Below are some of the ways I like to incorporate these foods. My goal especially right now is quick and easy. I swear every time I sit down to eat Maia is like HEYYYYY MOM! 😂

What's your fav protein source?

🔘Greek yogurt - with a bit of honey, berries or granola. I also like to mix it into my cooked oats with some fruit

🔘cheese strings - honestly I just eat 2 of these when I’m super busy, running out of the house or feeding her and need a snack..these do taste wonderful with a piece of fruit or if you wrap salami around them as well 😅

🔘edamame - I normally buy frozen shelled edamame and add it to salads or stir fry. It’s super delicious on its own with some salt as well.

🔘protein powder - I love this brand on it’s own mixed with water, however if I’m trying to make it a meal I normally mix it with oat milk, water, banana (or sweet potato), cinnamon, peanut butter and a splash of vanilla extract

🔘pulled rotisserie chicken - this is super easy to make in the instant pot or slow cooker but I don’t always have the time which is when I buy it. Add it to salads, soups, sandwiches, or wraps!

🔘smoked tofu - I love how it tastes and that it’s ready to eat. Just cut it up and add it to salads or wraps.

🔘canned beans - a super easy and affordable way to add protein and fibre to a meal. I sometimes grab a variety and make a bean salad or pasta salad. You can also add these to a green salad with the edamame and some smoked tofu 🤌🏼

Also, who can relate to what I ordered VS how it looks 😅. Thought I'd look cute, not like I stole Mr. Rogers pants 😂.

But serious, please remember:
✅It's normal for your "regular size" to vary by brand and style
✅It's normal to size up or size down
✅It's normal for some trends to not be flattering on everyone

Clothes are meant to fit your body, your body isn't meant to be altered to fit the clothes ❤️.

📸 taken the same day. Have you ever felt discouraged after seeing a photo of yourself? 🙋🏽‍♀️I have.

These moments don't impact me as much as they used to, but they still happen. And it's moments like this that can have us second guessing ourselves, our action and wonder if we’re doing enough.

I know how easy it is to get caught up in the comparison game, and learning to navigate moments like this is just one small aspect of coaching.

It’s great to share pics where we look as good as we feel..but I also want to acknowledge that many of us also have photos that are less flattering and make us second guess ourselves.

Pls remember that much of what you see on social media is a highlight reel. You rarely see the whole picture…or all the outtakes that it took to get that “one good shot”.

Your body is incredible, even if the picture isn’t you favourite. Don't let a photo lead you to second guess your worth ❤️.

I know how exhausting this journey can be. I know how hard it is to keep showing up for yourself when things aren't going well, or you're overwhelmed with what to do & how to start. I know it's hard to break the cycle, but it is possible! ❤️

I also want to point out that how you frame your journey matters.

I'm not anti-weight loss.
I'm anti-diet culture.
I'm against extremes.
I'm against restriction!
I'm against "just eat less".
Or results at any cost.

So when it comes to coaching I want to help women
🔸drop the diet mentality
🔸learn to eat without tracking
🔸improve their relationships with their bodies
🔸have a good relationship with food
🔸feel more confident in their skin
🔸have more clarity around what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat
🔸help people find a lifestyle approach to nutrition which they can stick with long term

25 LBS HEAVIER - still blows my mind 🤯 that I can be healthier & HAPPIER weighing more! Anyone else?

A picture doesn’t tell you the whole story. It doesn’t tell you,
❌ If I’m healthy (there’s a big diff btw being healthy and “looking” healthy)
❌If I have a good relationship with food
❌If I workout 2x a day
❌If I am really restrictive with my food
❌If I’m always dieting

A picture shows you a slice of someone’s life but there’s SO MUCH MORE to their life, and their health.

If you look at these two pics side by side, you can’t necessarily see that:
✅I’m mentally in a better place
✅I’m healthier
✅I’m stronger
✅I’m more confident
✅I no longer feel guilt or shame when eating anything

And yet, these things matter SO MUCH! I wouldn’t trade these things to weight 25 pounds less.

It’s okay to have health & aesthetic goals, but shrinking your body at any cost isn’t the answer.

You are worthy of love and respect just as you are today!

In the event you go into a change room & second guess yourself, please remember that not all lighting is created equal 😬.

Sometimes I try things on & it's like, 😕 gosh I do not feel great in this, I do not feel confident in this, & the lighting here is really not helping. I think it's so important to acknowledge how we feel (our emotional brain). Bu then, also try to bring in our logical brain for a chat. In situations like that, sometimes you just gotta take off the item and put some space between you and that moment.

The other day my logical brain popped in and was like, "nothing about this situation is serving you well, let's go." And so I did.

And as I left, I reminded myself that I've been doing a good job of honouring my hunger, really prioritizing my water intake, trying to be active & I should be proud of all those choices and actions.

Speaking to yourself with kindness & compassion is hard..but important ❤️.
