Do you want painless periods? [Read more below]👇

Painful periods are a sign that there is an underlying hormone imbalance (and usually it's more than one), it can also be a sign of excess inflammation,

1️⃣Sync your food to the 4 phases of your cycle
- Add in cooler foods during your follicular phase when digestion is at its strongest
- Add in warmer foods post-ovulation that are easier for your body to digest, metabolism also speeds up at this time and so will your caloric needs.

2️⃣Sync your exercise to your 4 phases
-During your follicular phase focus on HIIT and resistance training
-During your luteal phase start slowing things down maybe incorporating more conditioning, stability and lower weights
-During menstruation take time to rest, do some yoga or go for walks

3️⃣Start seed cycling
1 tbsp of flax and pumpkin seeds during your me**es & follicular phase
1 tbsp of pumpkin and sesame seeds during your luteal phase

4️⃣Balance your blood sugar
If blood sugar is imbalanced so will your s*x hormones!

5️⃣Remove food sensitivities
Eating foods which you are sensitive to can increase inflammation

Swap out your daily pill pack for a basal body thermometer 🤒

A few posts back we went through the cervical mucus method but that method alone is not the most effective way in identifying "safe" and "unsafe" days when it comes to preventing pregnancy,

The temperature method is based upon taking your temperature every morning at the same time everyday, before sitting upright or getting out of bed

Your temperature changes throughout the month depending on which hormone is most prominent,

During your follicular phase temperature ranges between 96-98 degrees fahrenheit

As ovulation approached you will notice a drop in your temperature followed by an increase, this increase signifies ovulation has taken place. Temperatures range between 97-99 degrees fahrenheit

After 3 days of elevated temperature "safe" days begin

Once temperature drops, this signifies your period is about to arrive and the "unsafe" period will begin

Using this method in conjunction with the cervical mucus method can be the best way to understand your cycle and know when an additional form of birth control may be needed!

Drop any questions you may have below about fertility awareness method 👇

When was the last time you sang?
When was the last time you danced like no one was watching?
When was the last time you cried?
When was the last time you stopped and gave thanks to your beautiful life?
When was the last time you closed your eyes and asked yourself, what do I need right now?
When was the last time you smiled for completely no reason at all?
When was the last time you felt completely at peace?
When was the last time you felt free?

Are you looking at your mucus daily? 🤔

What's left behind on your underwear can tell you a whole lot about what's going on with your hormones,

The hormones which control your menstrual cycle also make your cervix produce mucus!

Throughout the month you will notice your mucus change in colour, texture and amounts (pretty wild stuff if your ask me!),

If your not noticing cervical mucus throughout the month, this could be a sign that your NOT ovulating regularly and may need to address this if you are suffering from PMS, painful periods or having a hard time conceiving,

For those noticing cervical mucus throughout the month and are looking to opt into a natural form of birth control, use this method (in conjunction with the other FAM) to help identify "safe" and "unsafe" days to engage in vaginal in*******se,

The 2-day method;
Answer these two questions daily,
"Did I have cervical mucus yesterday?"
"Did I have cervical mucus today?"
If you answered no to both these questions then today is a safe day and pregnancy is unlikely!

Fertility Awareness Methods are only 76-88% effective when used alone, when combined together in a method known as the symptothermal method FAM is more effective

This week I will be diving into this topic further!
Follow along to learn more about the symptothermal method!

CHICKPEA FLOUR WAFFLES 🧇
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of my favourite breakfast foods are waffles, but traditional ones are not always the most blood sugar friendly
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s why I was on the hunt to find a recipe which included protein and healthy fat to ensure blood sugar doesn’t spike and satisfaction is achieved
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Balanced blood sugar is a critical step in hormone regulation 🦋
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here is the recipe;
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 1/2 cups organic chickpea flour
1/4 cup flaxseeds
2 cups almond milk (you can use any non dairy milk)
2 eggs (opt for 1/4 cup apple sauce if making them vegan)
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp sea salt
4 tbsp maple syrup
2 tsp baking powder
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Place batter into a waffle maker, add in fruit of choice (I used blueberries), top with grass fed butter and maple syrup
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This recipe is GF but can also be made vegan by omitting the the grass fed butter and swapping out the eggs 💫
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Enjoy ♥️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Make sure to save this one for later 😉

Are you spending too much time trying to thinking and worrying about your hormones and alot less time actively working to regulate them? 🤔

I hear you overcoming your hormonal imbalance is hard stuff,

But you don't have to take it upon yourself to overcome it :)

Heck it can actually add more stress to your already wonky 28-day cycle

(And more stress = more hormonal dysregulation)

Drop a "🙋‍♀️" if this sounds familiar & your ready to break this cycle!

So you've broken up with the pill, now what?👇

Here is how you can start supporting your body post-pill and work towards balancing your hormones, naturally!

1. Replenish the nutrients depleted by the BCP
Vitamin C, selenium, zinc, Coq10, B-vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin A, magnesium

2. Cleanse your liver
Supporting liver detoxification or going on a 14-day liver cleanse can help rid your body of all the synthetic hormone and additives you have been talking daily.

3. Replenish beneficial bacteria
The pill has been shown to disrupt your gut microbiome, you can work to replenish beneficial bacteria by implementing a probiotic supplement or adding in some fermented foods into your daily meals.

4. Incorporate seed cycling
This can help to get your natural hormonal rhythm back and regulated. This will also help modulate the effects of elevated estrogens and androgens.

5. Support your thyroid and adrenals
The pill has been shown to affect both the thyroid and the adrenals so it is important to support both these system.

You can start by incorporating 2 brazil nuts per day & checking your FULL thyroid panel with your MD if you suspect thyroid insufficiency. Consider adding in an gentle adaptogen such as ashwagandha or maca to support your HPA (please speak to your holistic practitioner before implementing any new herbs or supplements)

6. Incorporate cycle syncing!
This help to unlock your full potential when it comes to the power of your 28 day cycle! This will also help to know when your fertile periods are throughout the month!

Your birth control did not solve all your hormone related problems, it's time to address what's really going on👇

I know breakups can be hard, but just like many toxic relationships we may be left feeling like we are helpless alone,

Your birth control did not solve all your hormone related problems,

If you are noticing your irregular cycles, acne, PMS and painful periods have returned (and with vengeance) it's not because you stopped the pill it's because you started it, without getting to the root cause of your hormonal imbalance.

It's as if you masked what was really going on below the surface, and once you broke up with that tiny pill it all came spewing back up.

Know that just like any hard break-up, all you need to make it through this lies within.

Through the power of whole foods, supplementation and lifestyle interventions you can get rid of those nasty symptoms of good and all while being connected to your feminine energy (which by the way was being suppressed by that ex of yours!)

Having a hard time breaking up with your birth control? Send me a DM and let's talk 💌
