⁣𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡.⠀


⁣Okay, so this year is without a doubt, weird, and the walk couldn’t take place the traditional way with the before/during/after celebrations, because of you know, crowds and Covid. ⠀

So we stayed safe and did our own thing in a city park closer to home, my eldest boy, my Mom, and me. ⠀

My mother really wanted to participate — and she walked STRONG with bilateral artificial knees! ⠀

And even though we walked on our own, without lanyard wearing fellow walkers, the cheering, and the snacks 😅, it was a great day for a meaningful, fun walk.😷😊⠀

⁣𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕. 𝑭𝒊𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆.⠀


⁣But today, with the weekend approaching, maybe we can talk about some positive things that have happened this week. ⠀

And they don’t have to be fitness related. Mine isn’t! 😂⠀

My youngest got his learners permit — one more Shapiro coming to roads, mostly near me!⠀

My eldest children started their 3rd year of university, virtually. Not the way they would have preferred, but they were very happy with their courses and their professors. ⠀

Tonight, I may make a water challah, not necessarily because it’s Friday night/Shabbat, but because it’s something I just love to do for my family. ⠀

And this weekend, I may work out once (or twice). ⠀

⁣ᗪEᗰYᔕTIᖴYIᑎG TᕼE ᑭᑌᔕᕼ-ᑌᑭ.⠀


⁣I had an 80-year old client with Parkinson’s disease a few years ago. Her daughter brought her for biweekly 20 minute sessions. Movement for her was challenging, but I was able to modify foundation movements, like pushing, using the TRX suspension trainer. ⠀

It may not seem like much, but starting off with something basic like walking through the TRX chest press, is pretty effective. I felt it! And it’s totally ok if that’s enough for you. ⠀

Gradually, if you feel ready, you can progress to keeping your feet in a fixed position and just play around with shifting your bodyweight. First, by offsetting one leg. Then, bringing the feet parallel and wide apart. For less stability, bring the feet closer together. ⠀

I don’t think there’s a single exercise that cannot be broken down and modified so ANYONE can try it. ⠀
