We had a great time in NKT study group today hosted in Toronto (and virtual)!

Learning from each other and sharing ideas on how to strengthen our assessment skills, as well as building more confidence in executing the NKT protocol was the main focus for all levels today.

Rehab doesn't have to be boring!

My patients and I have so much fun getting serious about their health and have lots of laughs along the way.

This amazing 90+ year old works with me virtually, and she is always amazed at what she can push herself to do and also how simple changes in her movement can improve her daily abilities so significantly.

As you progress in your recovery, your strategies need to follow suit!

Practitioners and patients work together as a team to ensure that the best strategies are in place for the patients' needs at that time.

As a patient, as your movement ability changes, your strategies must follow.

As a practitioner, if your patient's presentation is changing, your evaluation will determine the next approach.

The ISH.

We can't change it for our patients. We can teach and empower them with the tools they need so that they can change it for themselves.

Every appointment together is an opportunity to add a new tool into their toolbox. They can take it home with them to integrate it into their daily lives as they need. Helping them understand how it works and why it can be of use helps them understand it's importance even more.

‼️THE REAL REASON YOUR PATIENT'S PAIN PAIN KEEPS RECURRING?‼️

It's not what you think - and until you don't address it - the cycle won't stop.

They rest, they stretch, they feel better.
They get back to their activities, and then IT'S BACK. 🥴

Same pain, same area, and same frustration.

You assess and find tightness.
You assume that the opposite muscle group is weak.

In my practice in the past, I've also told strong individuals/athletes that they are weak.

So, I took care of the tightness with stretching, dry needling, cupping, and focused on strengthening.

What I didn't understand was that the pain and tightness are symptoms of a much bigger picture.

Tightness is not strength or weakness. Tightness is DYSFUNCTION!

Being stuck in a loop and accepting that this is as far as you can go in your journey to better health and movement was never okay with me.

I am so grateful to be able to work with patients who do not give up on themselves and their goals and allow me to be a part of this journey with them.

No false promises, just real work based on assessment and consistency. These patients work HARD!

Removing fear with understanding and allowing space for exploration.
