I have over 15 years of experience in the areas of mental health, substance use, and trauma. I am a Registered Social Worker in the province of BC and hold a Master of Clinical Social Work from UBC-O and a Bachelor of Social Work from UVIC.
I am comprehensively trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), including DBT for substance use disorders, DBT for adolescents, and DBT-RO for disorders of over control. I have additional training in DBT Individual Therapy, Good Psychiatric Management for BPD, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I am currently enrolled in Somatic Experiencing, Comprehensive Internal Family Systems Therapy and EMDR Basic Training with a focus on Complex PTSD and dissociation.
I co-founded the BPD Society of BC in 2012 and implemented several support groups and DBT throughout BC. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings such as: group homes, shelters, street outreach, health authorities, non-profits, groups, youth centres, peer support, and psychiatric hospitals.
I work from a variety of frameworks including trauma-informed practice, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, person-centred, attachment and polyvagal theory. I am an award winning advocate, counsellor, public speaker, and consultant on BPD.
