Age Freely Fitness and Wellness I am passionate about supporting women through the menopause transition!

I provide evidence based programming to help women lose weight, build strong and lean body composition, reduce symptoms, and improve their overall health and wellness. Nancy lives in Lekwungen Territory on the beautiful shores of the West Coast of Canada in Victoria, BC, with her husband and three children. She has been passionate about fitness her whole life and began her professional career in health and wellness after earning a degree in Recreation and Health Education from the University of Victoria and her Master’s in Health Promotion from the University of Alberta. She also holds an MBA and certifications in personal training, yoga, and menopause coaching. Throughout her career, Nancy has focused on preventing chronic diseases, promoting healthy lifestyles, advocating for healthy public policies, and leading local and provincial initiatives to improve the quality of the healthcare system. Dealing with her own health issues related to her reproductive system and later entering perimenopause in her mid-forties, Nancy became passionate about Women’s Health. Recognizing the lack of women’s health research and medical care, Nancy set out to learn evidence-based approaches to support women through the menopause transition. Armed with her unique combination of personal experience, knowledge, and passion, Nancy developed the Age Freely Fitness and Wellness Program tailored for active women over 40. The program aims to empower women with the knowledge and tools to build lean muscle mass, nourish their bodies, and access credible resources to support them through this stage of life.

Surgery was cancelled 😳
They couldn’t find my tiny hernia — it literally disappeared (WTF?!). I’m SO relieved and grateful.

Surgery today.
And for the next 4 weeks, recovery is my training.

Everyone knows I love lifting weights — but real strength is knowing when to slow down so your body can heal properly. No heavy lifting, no rushing the process. Just walking, light movement, breath work, sleep, nourishment, and daily stress management.

I’m treating recovery with the same discipline I bring to training. Calm nervous system. Quality sleep. High protein. Gentle yoga. More walking. Daily breathing and meditation. Slightly lower calories, but never under-fueling.

This isn’t a setback — it’s a strategic pause to protect long-term strength and longevity. Healing now so I can come back stronger later. 💪✨

Menopause often means less sleep and more stress. Implementing a sleep routine can be a game-changer for your overall health and well-being, but it can also help with stubborn weight gain.
Here are some tips:
• Establish a consistent sleep schedule and maintain relaxing bedtime routines, such as reading or warm baths, while avoiding screens and noise.
• Create a sleep-friendly environment by keeping your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet, using supportive bedding, earplugs, and blackout curtains if needed.
• Practice mindful eating and drinking before bed, avoid heavy meals, limit caffeine and alcohol, manage stress with calming techniques, and consider natural sleep aids if necessary (talk to a health care professional such as a naturopath about these).
