Matt Wellington Athletic Therapy I am a Certified Athletic Therapist, CAT(C) 🏳️‍🌈 practicing in Victoria, BC. Raised in Vancouver, I’ve called Victoria home for the past four years.

I help people recover from musculoskeletal injuries and return to work, sport, and life. I’m a Certified Athletic Therapist, CAT(C), and a graduate of the Athletic and Exercise Therapy program at Camosun College. During my studies, I ensured on-field safety of sports teams at both the high-school and university levels, developing rehab plans so athletes could continue competing safely. Along with working with athletes, I enjoy helping people overcome injuries that keep them from daily activities, whether it’s returning to work, picking up groceries, or resuming the active lifestyle you enjoy. From initial assessment through personalized treatment and home-rehab planning, I can help with chronic low back pain and tendinitis to post-ACL surgery care, acute strains and sprains, and repetitive stress injuries. I’m a former world cup climber and continue to enjoy the outdoors through hiking, climbing, and beach volleyball. My treatment philosophy is to provide hands-on treatment, personalized exercise programs, and the tools you need to maintain your progress well beyond each session.

When treating wrist pain or tennis elbow, dumbbell exercises are great and can be beneficial. However, the smaller and deeper finger extensor muscles play a huge role in helping manage pain and function to both areas.

Here are three alternative drills that target thoracic extension, stretch surrounding muscles, and work well if you find foam rolling too uncomfortable.
