The Block

Have you ever been in a class and handed a block?

What was your reaction to this tool?

When I first started I used to feel dread when the teacher would hand me one. - it came from a place of “I know I can do this without that”… aka being stubborn.

When I hand out or recommend a block … it comes from a space of let’s create ease and extension without pushing the body too far. Chances are in life you push yourself, and it’s important to balance that with ease.

As a teacher, I do my best to incorporate blocks into all of my practices and classes. Why? Because you never know who needs that moment of ease offered to them. You never truly know what’s going on with someone. And if I can offer a moment of ease… I’m going to do that.

I personally love a block. It gives my body and muscles a breather. It actually really excites me because I know I’m going to rest my body weight for a moment in a posture and slow down while still feeling like I’m doing something. - yes, I know that’s not the reason I should be excited… but life is busy enough… and let’s be honest… there’s societal conditioning I need to let go of. Slowing down and resting is important. We must seek balance in life.

So, the next time you’re handed or offered a block… take it. Get excited about it and the possibilities that are coming.

You have the power to make the changes necessary for your wellness.

No one is going to stop and provide you with time for you…

You just have to actively decide that You are Worthy of your own time and wellness routines.

As a mother and small business woman… I know how challenging it can be to take that time for yourself. You start questioning if you’re doing enough for those around you, for your line of work… but let’s be real… what are you doing for yourself?

The more you neglect yourself… by not grabbing a coffee with your friend, or hitting the gym, or taking that yoga class, or filling up your cup in a way you like… the more ✨ Spark ✨ you begin to lose. You’re dimming your light to serve and love others.

Don’t wait until your spark is gone, and you’re stuck wondering who you are… to finally do something for You.

Don’t be afraid to choose You, and to love yourself.

😱 FEAR 😱
Fear is one of those emotions we feel… sometimes it keeps us safe… and sometimes it’s not rational.

Fear can make our hearts race, our breath hitch, and cause an outpouring of tears or even anger.

This past weekend brought up a lot of fears for our group… some were afraid of heights, some were afraid of rope bridges, some were afraid of the unknown of situations.

A few even faced their fears and did the thing that scared them the most - taking the gondola up the mountainside for the Agora Path of Light display; some crossing that bridge they were uncertain of without being carried.

I have to say I was pretty proud of those who faced up to their fears… because that is no easy feat.

As I reflect on that trip with fears… I think of my fear… going down the strange plastic net slide. Did I do it? No. Because I hadn’t seen anyone else do it, up until I was already exiting the way I came in. - I think back on how I should have just went for it. - but maybe one day I will go back and do just that.

Remember when fear rears its head to check in - am I in physical danger? How is this making me feel? Where do I feel it? And can I focus on my breath?

🌲 Get Outside 🍂

It’s important to still get outside this time of year. The forest is for rest and is feeling fresh - plus the fall colours are popping.

In getting outdoors… we soak up the sunshine, fresh air and are inspired to move.

Need more motivation? Grab a coffee/tea and a friend, get outside and see how much better you feel.

Fall is a great time to observe. To declutter. To release. In letting go we find resilience… we find strength… we find peace.

Get outside. Grab a friend. If you like… grab a mat and just observe and play.
