Our Story
Welcome to the Midwifery Collective of Essex County! Midwives are professional health care providers who are government regulated and fully funded.
Midwifery Collective of Essex county is a midwifery practice serving Windsor and Essex County. Appointments are held at 250 Tecumseh Rd E, Suite 120, Windsor and 197 Talbot St W, Suite 207 in Leamington.
Midwifery care is community-based. The needs of clients are at the centre of the midwifery model. Midwives see their role as a guide for you through your pregnancy and birth experiences.
Midwifery services include longer appointments which enable us to answer all your questions. It also gives the opportunity to develop a strong trusting relationship. With a midwife you have complete medical support that puts you at the centre of care.
Appointments are 30-45 minutes in length.
We know that pregnancy and childbirth are a profound time in a woman’s life, imbued with a variety of personal and cultural meanings, and are best approached in a non-authoritarian manner, providing choice of birthplace, continuity of care, informed choice and recognizing the woman as the primary decision maker.
We provide your family with personalized prenatal, labour, birth and postpartum care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer home and hospital birth and we have admitting privileges at Leamington District Memorial Hospital and Windsor Regional Hospital. All midwives in our practice are registered with the College of Midwives of Ontario and are also members of the Association of Ontario Midwives.
