Feeding a child with an eating disorder can be challenging, but it is one of the most important steps in recovery. Here are some things to keep in mind: 🥗

* Your child needs to eat enough food on a consistent schedule to restore their weight and health. This means three meals and three snacks per day with all of the food groups included.
* Eating together as a family can help your child feel more comfortable and less isolated. It can also show them that food is not something to fear or avoid, but something to enjoy and nourish themselves with.
* If you are unsure about what or how much to feed your child, consult with a non-diet, eating disorder registered dietitian who can tailor a meal pan for your child’s specific needs.
* Weight restoration is not only good for your child’s body, but also for their mind. It can help them think more clearly, reduce their distress and obsession, and increase their motivation and hope for recovery.
* You are doing a great job as a parent. You are not alone in this struggle. There are many resources and support available for you and your child. 💜

Parenting a child with an eating disorder can be challenging.

‼️It’s important to remember that the eating disorder is not your child.  In today’s group we focused on the balance of supporting and validating your child while not “giving in” to the disorder.

✨Join our support group for parents of children with eating disorders to connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Together, we can learn how to externalize the disorder and support our children on their journey to recovery.
