Manitoba Black Nurses Association The MBNA was born out of a shared commitment to making a positive impact on healthcare. Our mission encompasses the following key principles:
1.

Bio/History:
The Manitoba Black Nurses Association, established in 2018, has been a labor of love and dedication, born out of a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the healthcare landscape within our community. Although our journey began in 2018, the onset of the pandemic temporarily paused our progress. However, in the face of adversity, we have persevered and grown stronger. In our early years, we organized and hosted health fairs at the Jamaican Association of Manitoba. These events served as a platform to engage with and educate our community about diseases that disproportionately affect the Black community. Our dedication to these initiatives showcased our unwavering commitment to promoting better health outcomes for everyone, regardless of their background. Vision:
Our vision is a future where healthcare disparities based on race are a thing of the past. We envision a world where every individual receives equitable healthcare, regardless of their racial or ethnic background. The Manitoba Black Nurses Association strives to be at the forefront of this transformative change, leading by example and inspiring others to join us on this journey. Mission:
At the Manitoba Black Nurses Association, our mission is to build a strong and interconnected network of past, present, and future nurses who share a common goal: to minimize the racial disparities in healthcare. We are committed to promoting health equity and ensuring that healthcare is a fundamental right accessible to all. Education: We are dedicated to educating our community about diseases and health issues that disproportionately affect the Black community. Knowledge is power, and we believe that through education, we can empower individuals to take control of their health.
2. Advocacy: We are tireless advocates for health equity. We work with healthcare institutions, policymakers, and community leaders to ensure that the healthcare system is fair and just for everyone.
3. Support: We provide support to Black nurses at every stage of their careers, from aspiring students to seasoned professionals. Through mentorship, guidance, and opportunities, we aim to foster the growth and success of Black nurses in Manitoba.
4. Community Engagement: We actively engage with the community, creating spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action. Together, we aim to create a healthier and more equitable future for all. The Manitoba Black Nurses Association is more than just an organization; it's a movement, a community, and a force for positive change. Join us in our mission to make healthcare equitable for all, regardless of race or background. Together, we can make a difference.

✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻Happy Black History Month ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻

It’s a time to remember the accomplishments of Black men and women who came before us. The ones that are breaking the glass ceilings and leading us in new ways. We honour the achievements of Black Canadians big or small and celebrate the diverse Black culture.
