Amanda Sobey This is my personal blog of tips and information on how I overcame my struggles with Lymphedema. Along my journey, I became a mother in 2005 and again in 2007.

Since 2002, I have been battling an incurable illness known as Lymphedema. Lymphedema is caused by a blockage of the lymphatic system, resulting in permanent swelling in my entire right leg. At the time of diagnosis, little information was known about treating this condition. The resources to maintain the condition were expensive and did not provide a viable solution. Not only was I permanently disfigured; I was traumatized to learn that there was nothing I could do about it. Becoming a mother has become my greatest accomplishment. That being said, trying to take care of others is challenging enough, not to mention the added demands of having a chronic illness. Staying active, eating healthy and making healthy lifestyle choices is something I strive for on a daily basis. As a busy mother that works full time, it is not always easy to stay committed to my regime. Through my own personal trials and tribulations, I have managed to significantly reduce my edema to the point that it is almost a thing of my past. I catch myself saying “if I knew then, what I know now” it would have saved me years of grief, pain and suffering. I am happy to share my tips and tricks for living with Lymphedema on a budget. I have created a simple step-by-step guideline that will help any person battling Lymphedema. If you have a comment, question or suggestion, I’d love to hear from you! What you choose today becomes your tomorrow. 💫

🤯 This really hits hard for me. It pulls me into the now and makes me more conscious of how I move through life. I’m learning—day by day—to live one moment at a time. Like everyone else, I have good days and hard ones.

This quote reminds me that I have the power to create the future I desire. The habits I choose today shape the reality around me tomorrow. It quiets my mind, softens the negative chatter, and brings my headspace back into perspective. I don’t want the life that’s behind me—I want the life I’ve yet to live.

Life isn’t about complexity. It’s about intention. It’s about finding stillness and ease, and allowing yourself to move toward the things that feel good to you and good for you.
I hope this quote helps you as much as it helps me—even if only for a moment.

Sending you all my love and light 🌈

You are enough.
Right here.
As you are.
Not when you do more.
Not when you push harder.
Now.

And listen… you can do this. Even on the days your body feels heavy. Even when motivation is low. Even when you’re tired of managing it all.

So maybe this is your sign to put the phone down for a moment and come back to yourself.

✨ Do your MLD — slow, gentle, intentional
✨ Move your body in a way that feels kind, not punishing
✨ Drink some water (yes, another sip 😉)
✨ Put on your compression — it’s support, not a sentence

Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s how you keep going. It’s how you show your body you’re listening.
One small step is still a step. One choice is still progress. You’re doing better than you think.
💙 You are enough.
💙 Your body is worthy of care.
💙 And you don’t have to do it perfectly — just keep showing up.

🌟 New Year, Same Goal: Progress Every Day! 💪

Here's my mission for this new year, and maybe it resonates with you too: I just want to get better. Every single day. 💡

In fitness, it's not about perfection; it's about making strides toward your full potential, one workout at a time. Nutrition isn't about extremes; it's about nourishing your body better today than yesterday. Self-care is a daily commitment to self-improvement, one small act of self-love at a time.

We're all a work in progress, and that's a beautiful thing. Embrace each day as an opportunity to become a better version of yourself, step-by-step. The goal is to be a little bit better than you were yesterday.

Let's make this new year a journey of continuous improvement, self-discovery, and reaching closer to our full potential. 🚀💖

Most days, I don’t.
I swallow it. I stay quiet. I walk away.
Being chronically compromised takes a toll that’s hard to put into words.
The appointments. The lack of medical care.
The navigating, explaining, advocating.
The daily responsibility of managing a condition—
all while trying to function like everything is “normal.”
It’s exhausting.

So I want to ask you—
What do you wish clinicians and physicians truly understood about living with this condition?
Your voice matters.
Let’s say the things we’re usually too tired, too polite, or too dismissed to say.

👇 Share below. I’m listening.

I want to know what you think. Are my bandages for Daytime or Nighttime Compression?

Do I wear them over my clothes or under them?

Should I wear them when I exercise?

Let me know below 👇 what you think. I can’t wait all your comments.

Let me say something that people with lymphedema don’t hear enough:
Your pain is real. And you’re not imagining it.
Lymphedema pain isn’t just swelling.
It can feel heavy. Tight. Burning. Achy.
Sometimes it’s constant…
Sometimes it flares when you least expect it.
And what makes it harder?
People often can’t see the pain.
So you might hear things like:
‘At least it’s not that bad’
or ‘You should just push through.
But lymphedema pain has real reasons—
pressure on nerves,
inflammation,
restricted movement,
and the emotional weight of managing a chronic condition.
You deserve care that looks at your whole body—
not just the swelling.
Pain management, proper compression, movement, rest, and support
are not luxuries.
They are part of treatment.
And if today all you did was rest, elevate, or say ‘no’—
that counts as strength.
Healing is not linear.
If you’re living with lymphedema and pain,
I see you.
You’re not weak.
You’re adapting.
Drop a 💙 if this resonated,
or share this with someone who needs to feel understood today.

Reasons why your body swells
➰Hormones
➰Weather
➰Stress
➰Medications
➰Dehydration - lack of fluids
➰Too much aggravating exercise or too little activity
➰Food - not enough protein (I will make a video in depth about this as it’s complex)

Alright guys... Here is the tea 🫖 Some of you know me as a bodybuilder, lymphie queen, coach, influencer, motivator etc. Other people have other opinions of me. 🙃 Such is life. I can honestly say the past few years have been the HARDEST I have ever experienced. They affected me in every way possible and had MASSIVE ramifications. Healing is HARD. I needed help and still need help. Hurt people, hurt people and I am working on healing every day. I am grateful for the hardships I went through, as they taught me a lot. Life is hard and has a way of teaching and healing you... If you let it. 💕

Without going into too much detail, I'm going to remove my mask and share with you where I am at right now. Today, I choose to look at my life as an empty canvas. I am going to create the future I want. I am using today's post as my journal entry to look back on a year from now. I want to see how much I can grow, change and heal. I will take time to paint my "canvas" and create a vision for the goals, habits, values, and intentions that I will consistently work on this year.

I cannot wait to see how much my relationship with myself, my life (family & friends), my health, and my mindset can change in 365 days.

So here is to the 2nd day of January. 🥂

🌟 One day or day one. You decide. - Paulo Coelho. 🌟

Happy January 1st everyone!! I ABSOLUTELY love this quote. Simply switching around the words, this sentence has an entirely different meaning. Seems rather fitting for the first day of the year. 😉

I know it sounds rather cliché, but it is true; it doesn't matter when you start, you have to decide to take that first step. Not sure where to start? Like and follow my page to stay up to date, as I show you step-by-step how I changed my life.
