Me: Hey there! How are you this week? Our meeting is on Monday. Anything particular you want us to dive into?
Client: Yes. My lower back is hurting me. Can we go through some yoga stretches that would help. And I’m going out to this restaurant next week with a friend. Can we walk through the menu together to see what dishes won’t upset my belly. Oh and my sister’s birthday is coming up. I’d like to get her a crystal. She just got a new job so a want to get her something she can use with organization and productivity. See you soon!
One of the many things that I love about my 1-on-1 clients is how each meeting is so different. Sometimes we are doing a deep dive into digestion issues, sometimes we are heading to the grocery store together. Other times we are working through emotions when changing careers, changing relationships, yoga, working on breath work practices for anxiety, setting up you office to support your best productivity.
Your specific wellness journey needs - physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically and spiritually - change everyday . . . As they should when you are actively taking steps forward.
It is such an honour to be able to stand by you, support you, and cheer you on every step of the way.
Sending you my love, Dear Friends - Marla

Celebrating Cinqo de Mayo early with my dear friend in Calgary. (Thank you and
!)
This is the first time I’ve been on a plane, on a real mini-getaway, since the start of the pandemic.
Lots of feels popped up leading up to this trip: what is the airport going to be like? How will being in a plane with a boatload of people not socially distancing feel?
In the past, I loved travelling and jump at any chance to teach or travel in a new city, but with all the last 2 years have tossed at us, it has been a bit hard emotionally working our way back to our old norms.
Let me know in the comments below if you have travelled anywhere yet, where you went, and how did you feel…..

Does where you are right now feel right? Are you reaching for something else, because something feels wrong?
Here’s my morning walk thought from Miss Luna and I.
Sending you love and light, Dear Friends!

This past Saturday, I spent the day alone at the Museum of Human Rights.
Last week I took most of the week off as my eldest had the flu, and this week both kids are off with spring break, so when my beau said to me on Saturday “I’ve got the kids today. Go do whatever you want today”, I Berliner it to the museum.
They had a feature exhibit on that highlighted six different artists from around the world.
Without the kiddos with me, I had the time to read every word, watch every video, take in each piece of work, chat with the interpretative staff.
One word caught my eye. One of the artists from Argentina was talking about what happened in her country from 1976-1983 and she used the word “escraches”.
The word has many definitions, from a social revolt to a party of those “unsettled”, but the definition that stopped me was it being the word you use when you feel a need to scream.
It is the feeling you have when you have gone through a devastating loss and your pain is so great, you must give it sound and strength so that pain has a place to exit.
Escraches.
Understanding that when you have suffered something/anything that has shaken you, you then possess escraches. You will have the need to scream, to let your suffering out. And that this escraches plays a critical role in your ability to heal and step forward.
Sending you my love, dear friends - Marla

For nearly a decade I worked in corporate America. I wore the business suits, marched into the boardroom, gave the presentations, hit the revenue targets, made the tough calls without showing emotion.
In order to go toe-to-toe with the other leaders and be respected and taken seriously, I had to become like them. This meant I had leave something behind, something that society has taught us women is a weakness.
I didn’t realize this until many years later, but stepping away from embracing my femininity is not where we gain out power. It is where we loos e it.
In this episode, I sit down with the amazing Carole Tetreault () as we discuss how women are conditioned to abandon their femininity, how this might show up in your day to day life, and how we can take steps back to becoming wildly feminine.

International Women’s Day is not a day, a week, or a month. It is a movement, an era, a time that is long overdue.
Over the last few weeks, I have spent time each day reflecting on the teachings, wisdom, fire, compassion, and inspiration so many women have instilled in me.
None will ever top my Mom, for whom my book was dedicated to.
We all have woman that fearlessly fought to get us where we are now. Today we recognize those warrior Goddesses that aren’t here, but are shouting down to us “Keep going, Honey. You’ve got this!”
Leave a heart for every woman in your life that has well earned her time to fly.

Hi friends and Happy Friday to you!
I have a fun little update for you. After 100+ episodes of the Your Wellness Journey podcast, we decided to change a few things, including the name.
Your lovely show is now called Your Gut Reaction.
As per our norm, we will chat about understanding your emotions, your digestion, looking at the beautiful, wonderful YOU in a new light, looking at how to best listen to all those messages your body, emotions, and energy levels are sending you, AND seeing how all of that works together like magic for you every single day.
As a special kick off to this new chapter for the show, I wanted us to talk about understanding your natural instincts.
In this week’s episode, you and I chat about . . .
🤔why our instincts aren't what we think they are,
💩how this is related to your digestion,
😱what watching horror movies show us about our instincts,
🐻❄️how we can learn from animals about understanding our instincts,
⏰and how to develop your killer natural instincts in 10 minutes or less.
I am so looking forward to starting this new chapter with you all.
Your Gut Reaction can be found on all podcast platforms, or you can always visit the link in my bio.

A false spring? Yep, you might be feeling it. Here is what it is and how you can better understand it.

There are times in history where something catastrophic and unthinkable takes place and the world stops. We watch. We listen. We hold our breath. Our Souls ache. Our hearts fall. How did we get here? Why is this happening?
We have all globally been through a significant trauma this past 2 years together. As news comes out about the Ukraine today, be gentle with yourself. Hug someone. Allow yourself the space to cry.
Greed and power created this situation, as they do all situations like this.
So we reach inward and fight this with love and compassion.
Sending my love to all of you today as well as my distant family in the Ukraine.
❤️🙏

Today something amazing happened.
I have the best family, this community of selfcare heroes called Your INWARD Circle. Each month we laugh together. We cry together. We heal together, as we tackle some of our biggest selfcare topics:
- understanding your wellness body type
- looking at our relationship to food
- making sense of our cravings
- working on tuning into our emotions
- nurturing and protecting our gifts
- how COVID has impacted us emotionally, mentally, and physically.
They are my family, my second family.
Twice a year I open enrollment and we welcome in new family members. And since we are gearing up for our BIG 40 day spring reset starting March 1st, I though this would be the perfect time to invite you to join us.
There is more info in my bio link. I’ll be sure to share more fun stories from our group in the coming days.
Maybe now is the perfect time for you to do something amazing for yourself.

Hi There! I’m Marla, and I am here to walk right next to you on your wellness journey.
When I was young, I became seriously obsessed with wellness. It stemmed from having many loved ones around me sick and pass away too soon from diseases that were (we know now) preventable. I didn’t like what my DNA was trying to hand me. I thought, sure, I’ll take the blue eyes, the feisty nature, the fondness for math, but the rest – the cancer, heart disease, weight issues, gout, allergies – I don’t want. I didn’t care if I had to work 10x as hard to be healthy because I wasn’t born with an athlete nor did I have a coordinated bone in my body, or genetically destine have a “healthy” body shape. I was going to figure this out, and I did.
Back when I was seven, I out of the blue decided to go plant-based. If I was going to become a healer, I knew I had to start healing myself first. Next stop seemed like a no-brainer: you become a doctor, right? But after a couple years in pre-med and working in hospitals, I realized I would probably be working to do more damage control than making sure people never got sick in the first place. I then ended up with a Food Science degree. But I needed more: In order to help myself and others on their wellness journey, I was going to need to learn a lot more. I studied any modality that was scientifically proven to play a role in our wellness: Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, meditating, Tai Chi, yoga, reflexology, Reiki. A few years ago, I went back to my first love (medicine) and completed a fellowship in Healthy Aging at Stanford School of Medicine. In the last few years, I have brought in the art and sciences of geobiology, energy mitigation, astral charts, ancestral healing, lunar ceremonies and spirit guide work into the courses and teaching I work on for you all.
All those degrees, certificates, studies aside, I hands down learned the most important lessons when I was blessed with a 12-year life detour to work with some amazing wild animals. It is crazy to think that I really figured out how to be a healthy human being only through watching the rest of the animal kingdom. So my first breathing/meditation coach was an Asian elephant named Kamala. Each week when we were together, she would bow her massive head down allowing me to gently place my palm at the base of her trunk as we closed our eyes and slowly inhaled, exhaled together. I learned protein absorption from a rock-solid 400-pound silverback gorilla named Kakinga (who happened to be a vegan!) I learned the art of chewing your food from a leggy giraffe named Bahati who had the most dreamy eyelashes that seemed to go on forever.
So, that’s me. It has been over 35 years since I started down this road helping people heal and understand their glorious bodies, minds and spirits. The combination of all of these things has me here offering you monthly self study courses, leading wellness retreats, talking to groups about their wellness issues, teaching yoga, meditation and breath work, and hosting a weekly podcast called Your Wellness Journey.
This is only the beginning. You're beginning. Our Beginning.
