Polished by the tides, not shattered. I want the currents of life to toss me about, to jumble me up, and leave me feeling washed and clean.
I want my sharp edges to soften with the years—not weak, but supple. I want to ride the waves, go with the flow, feel the influence of the crashing tides rolling in and out.
When I am thrown against the shore and caught between the rocks and a hard place, I want to rest there until I find the strength to do the next thing. Not stuck—just waiting, thoughtful, feeling what it’s like to pause. And when I am ready, I will catch a wave and let it carry me to the next place I am meant to be.
I want to be occasionally picked up and taken by an unexpected soul, just for the connection, just for the sake of appreciation and wonder. And with each encounter, new possibilities for collaboration will be presented, and new ideas born.
I want to age like sea glass, so that when people see the old woman I will become, they embrace all that I am. They will marvel at my exquisite nature, gently hold me in their hands, and be impressed by my well-earned patina. Neither ostentatious nor dull, just a perfect sheen. And they will wonder, if only for a moment, what I am made of and how I came to be in this very special here and now. And we will both feel the joy of being in this perfectly right place at exactly the right time. I want to age like sea glass.
